None of us are likely to live to see it (unless it's the Indians, I guess), but with 30+ teams now in every pro league, there are going to be 100-year droughts without titles more often. I wonder if other fans will always be as shitty about it as they are towards the Cubs.

I've always thought it was kind of sick in the head to hope that a team who hasn't won a title in 100+ years keeps losing forever.

I don't blame them. They are dwarfed in popularity in their own city and nationally, constantly pitted in a yuppies vs. blue collar stereotype battle even though its not really true, their old historic ballpark was less revered and then torn down and replaced by a mediocre park.

But one thing they still have over us is that one lone championship. If they lose that they will have nothing.

I shook my head at the Cubs MLB front page: the Sox' opposing pitcher being an "old friend." That was a little while ago; Smardjweqitgeqw is going to be tough.

I hope I'm wrong. But as I am a Cubs fan, it wouldn't be the first time.

i didnt say it was a worse than old comiskey. just that it is average when compared to other modern parks where the world still reveres wrigley as a crown jewel of MLB parks. The point was trying to paint the massive inferiority complex many Sox fans seem to have toward the Cubs.

Devil's advocate: what about Fenway in terms of most revered? Gotta remember that East Coast bias.

I was having a drink last week at my neighborhood haunt and bumped into a few SF Giants fans right after the 4 game sweep. They saw my Cubs hat and immediately starting talking [expletive] about 1908 rabble rabble. They do it because it is the laziest form of insult, an ESPN graphic regurgitated by drunks. It's the trash talking equivalent of junk food.
