What's the benefit of waiting until the final hour? Less time for other teams to counter with additional moves?

Teams that are selling are waiting for best and final offers to drive up the return, while teams that are buying are hoping the seller will get desperate.

 

The tweet says the trades are done and that the wait is only in announcing them.

Every year there are trades that are done but not announced until final hour. He's not referencing one specific trade, just the common practice of last minute deluge of trades.

They may be done. But a trade being done does not mean it is immediately announced.

Pinyero and Soto for Haren. Soto is an afterthought, and while Pinyero is a modest prospect, I doubt we would have protected him the the Rule 5 draft.

 

With 2 hours left, I find myself more invested on what we don't do (give up Baez) than what we do.

Also weve been competitive and have won several of the 'bullpen games' we've had so we aren't exactly hosed if Wood starts and gives us 4 innings before turning it over.
