Trade Castro to the Mets, who don't have an answer at SS and desperately need offense. I'd also throw in Lake or Mendy. I want Noah Syndergaard back.

Syndergaard - for Castro? Why not ask them to throw in Matt Harvey, too? The fantasy bubble Cub fans are living in when it comes to Castro's value never fails to astonish

Well of course Syndergaard isn't enough for Castro, but Harvey on top of that is a bit far.

FWIW, Gammons floated the idea of Edwards and McKinney (plus "a young SS") for Tyson Ross. No idea if he completely pulled that out of his ass, as he's wont to do. But I would be very leery of giving up McKinney in that deal, since Ross is about as sure-fire a bet for TJS as anyone in baseball.

I do worry about Ross' health (he throws his slider 46% of the time(!!!) as a starting pitcher), but that's a deal I would do. McKinney's good, but since he might be stuck in LF, I don't see huge upside with him. Tyson Ross would make us scary good.

Ross pitched when I saw the Pads play the Cubs in SD. He reminded me of Marmol funnily enough - he pitches like a short reliever who doesn't trust his fastball. No question the slider is filthy. But even if his elbow doesn't explode, I just don't think he can sustain this level of success over the long-term. Obviously he's a good pitcher but the idea of giving up elite talent for him scares the hell out of me.

I love Ross, but his numbers are weird this year. He's got a solid ERA and a great FIP and K/9, but he's also on pace to walk like 100 guys this season and he has 1.47 WHIP which is pretty bad. You'd think he's benefiting from Petco in half is starts... but his home ERA is 4.76 while his Away ERA is 2.91. Maybe you'd think with how many people he walks he must have a high LOB%. It's actually slightly lower than it was last year (73.6% to 75.1%).

He's giving up nearly 9 H/9 and over 4 BB/9, but he has the best K/9 of his career and has also only given up 3 HR so far this season. He's kind of like the starting pitching version of Carlos Marmol this year, and that terrifies me, but I still like him.

lol typical of us cubs fans to overvalue prospects in the minors and undervalue a player on the sox.

out of any pitcher that could be traded for Chris Sale is the best one, thing is the cubs have to over pay to get him.

Personally I think its worth it. He would instantly be the best pitcher the cubs have had for years. and he is only 26!

that kinda talent is worth a guy with no position (schwarber) and some other guys.

I would urge you to not think of this in terms of how Cubs fans view their own players, but really question your own mental ledger that you're balancing when coming up with trade ideas.

Were will the cubs get a young proven Ace with a team friendly contract from? You gotta give up to get... there is absolutely nothing absurd about a trade like this, maybe over pay a little, but Schwarber would have to be a part of that. The Sox need to rebuild and sale is the biggest asset they have i'd take sale over Cueto/Hamels/other pitchers out there in a heartbeat..

I honestly can't tell if he thinks nobody else knows Chris Sale is absurdly good and on a great contract.

Let me put this another way. In baseball trades, having five $1 bills is not the same thing as having one $5 bill.

Why wouldnt you guys trade for him? Do you think that its because the sox wouldnt ever do it? or you think the cubs couldnt get it done?

Or there is a lack of interest trading within the town?

In that case, sign me up for Sale, Archer, Stanton, Harper, and Trout. Oh, and I guess I'll take Cain while I'm here.
