Meh, Denorfia doesn't bat until at least the 11th (pitcher spot) if he doesn't bat there, so I'm OK with it.

Maddon's strategy is to give himself the best chance to win now in extra inning potential situations. I completely agree with that strategy. Over the course of the season putting your best foot forward for innings 9-11 is probably going to lead to you winning more games in innings 9-11 than losing in innings 12+.
