Addison Russell seems to be doing okay as one of the youngest players in the PCL.

Yep. Killing the ball and hasn't struck out in his first 19 plate appearances.

Hitting .389 with a .352 BABIP. That'll do.

In other news, Torres had 2 more hits today, and Vogelbach went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles.

I really wish they would bring Addison up when they bring up Bryant, I realize it'll prob be July or something though.

Short of them agreeing to a contract extension like Longo, I can't imagine he'd be up prior to late June/early July. It really is unfortunate because I think his impact would be both immediate and significant.

i don't see the point of rushing addison russell. he's 21 years old, is the third youngest player in the PCL and has a half season under his belt above A-ball. he should probably spend at least half this season in the minors.

Had he not gotten hurt, there was a chance, albeit small, that he saw the bigs last year. Him coming up soon wouldn't be a huge shock or really all that premature.

Addison sure looks ready right now, but it's just 4 games. It happens to be the first 4 games so it skews the perspective. I like this FO's approach to preparing their prospects for success once they reach the bigs. That said, if he hasn't cooled off by mid-to-late May, and there's a need for him in Chicago (an injury or poor performance by another starter), I wouldn't frown on the Cubs bringing him up.

Not small. It was expected.

right, but he did get hurt, and missed almost half of last season. i mean, 70 games above A-ball is not a lot, and he walked only 9 times in 50 games with tennessee last year. xander bogaerts looked like just as good a prospect in 2012-13, certainly "looked ready," and he's been bad offensively in late 2013 and all of 2014. i prefer giving guys a full year in AA/AAA rather than bringing them up because they look like they've got it all figured out.

The point would probably be that we're giving regular playing time to Chris Coghlan and Mike Olt.
