Do we want the Cardinals to win? It does concede the division, but I almost feel like a split of a 4-game series is best for the Cubs.

I'm never going to root for the Cardinals. And I'd rather have the Pirates win the NL Central.

Umpires are the worst and I normally don't mind when players show them up, but man, Cervelli is such an [expletive] to them. He frames pitches for an obnoxious amount of time. I'm slightly surprised StatCorner has him as the best framer this season; I'd expect umps to take that personally and shrink the zone.

A Lester-Cervelli battery would be hilarious.

Reynolds just got drilled in the forearm and they showed a close up of it when he got to 1st. That's and enormous, deep, and quick appearing nasty looking bruise.

Also, screw those jerk asses.

Randal Grichuk was traded with Peter Borjous for the corpse of David Freese, who won a World Series MVP

The Angels aren't exactly a smart organization.

Cardinals just blew another lead. Pittsburgh ties it at 5 in the 10th.

Two weeks ago, the Cards swept us and were 9 up in the division. They're 5-9 since and are only 2.5 up on the Pirates.

That was entertaining to watch.

If the Cubs have to travel to St Louis for the Wild Card game, I fear for my liver.

I think I'd rather play St. Louis than Pittsburgh. I don't think they'd win either but Gerrit Cole scares me way more than Michael Wacha. Also a one game playoff is a complete crapshoot and if the Cubs were to win that, it would be the greatest day ever.

lol, I hear ya. But Arrieta vs Wacha would be a whole lot better than vs Cole. Of course, if we're battling the Mets and Giants until the very end, Arrieta might not be able to pitch that game, but still, no Cole.

Oh, I agree with you guys. In a one game playoff, I'd rather face any currently healthy Cardinal SP over the top two Pirate SP. But the Cardinals bring out the inner meatball in me. (Keep in mind on opening night, I told a Cardinals fan 100 lbs bigger than me who said something about Lester's spring training dead arm that a dead arm was better than a dead outfielder.)

Assuming we don't win the division, ideally, we'd win the second wild card by a few games while the Pirates and Cards go down to the wire for the division. That's not a super unlikely scenario since the Cards are on pace for 102 wins and the Pirates 97.5. They could both win 96-98, Cubs end up at 91-93 and the Giants/Mets 86-88. With a few games to play, we're down 4/5 to the Pirates but up 4/5 on the Mets/Giants.

This is fantastic and needs to be recognized for it's brilliance.

And David Freese isn't a corpse.
