@KarliBell33: Great point by @MikeSilver. Maybe #Bears want to point out it is a QB problem & not a coaching problem. Very interesting.

I doubt this

I don't doubt Marc might be trying to prove it. I hope it works in an odd way some other team gets duped by him. Gotta keep the competition down.

Crap I totally misread that. I read it as the Bears FO was trying to show that Trestman wasn't to blame so they can retain Trestman

Well #Bears could mean anyone currently employed so Marc makes the most sense.

Could the bears just say they don't want cutler to play in meaningless games so they are seeing what they have in Claussen? I could see the bears spinning this so that it doesn't look like they are giving up on Cutler. Or obviously if they let Trestman and maybe Emery go they can say they didn't support benching him.

I think it would be a bad idea to just cut cutler after the season. Doesn't help us at all next season unless they are just going to punt it and go through a rebuilding year.

I think that's the Skins thinking. But the Bears? Cutler's not a kid coming off an injury. This makes no sense.

As for rebuilding, if they cut Cutler, they still have Marshall, Allen, Mundy, Bushrod, Forte and other vets who aren't going to be part of that process. They aren't going to cut 40 million worth of players or make them sit thru a complete overhaul.

RT @MikeSilver: I'm told Trestman felt he could no longer play Cutler 'simply to justify a contract' when his performance was so poor...

Poor is a severe overstatement. Poor is Clausen's career.

Cutler did have a pretty poor performance Monday, but on the whole his season is way above what we should expect from Clausen. Sending a message I guess? May be one of the first players this year held "accountable" for their play. Well Ola the other week was the first... even though he didn't even play that bad compared to what he had done earlier in the year.

Trestman is a mess.

What I just said on @nflnetwork : Bears offensive players believe Clausen will 'light it up,' simply because he'll run offense as prescribed

Oh well - if thats what happens Trestman proves he was an idiot for not starting Clausen sooner. Either way he's an idiot. Win win.

ETA- In all actuality I think you can find one player to say anything. We've now heard from both sides on basically every coach on the roster from "players"

Well, I guess we now know who Trestman blames for his failure.

Well Trestman also said it's his fault for not developing Cutler.

Crazy, but I actually miss Lovie now. 10-6 aint bad!

Don't get me wrong I'm sure Jay is capable of making the wrong calls but it's Jimmy Clausen were talking about

So it looks increasingly possible we are back to where we were from the 50s-2008....how do we get a franchise QB?

Outside of the 2QBs at the top is there anyone else worthy of drafting?

Obviously they don't believe Fales is the guy or if he is they don't think he's ready

Clausen cannot go into next year as our starting QB can he?

I believe Emery still supports Cutler and will be keeping him after they jettison Trestman.

Don't confuse Trestman giving up on Cutler as the Bears giving up on Cutler.

Definitely

Not even sure what it would prove if Claussen exploded.

That's a hollow statement from Trestman though. Actions speak much louder than that.

Then they truly are a bunch of hopeless idiots; everyone knows Claussen is football garbage.

There are no franchise QB's in the next draft.

To be honest this has some potential to be good for Jay. If Clausen gets obliterated these last two games, a possible if not probable outcome, it'll likely take a bit of heat off Cutler going into the offseason. I'm not sure it was doing him any good to get hanged week after week for the team's ineptitude. Let them all see that the Bears are exactly the same heap of [expletive] without him.

On a side note, [expletive] you Trestman for preventing our first 4,000 yard passer in team history.
