I think Trestman will be back. Philips, Emery and Co have shown enough ineptitude to not change. I don't want Trestman back, but I really think he will be

I think it's 80/20 he's gone. This is unprecedented embarrassment for the Bears.

Unprecedented? No, Rick Mirer.

You said you were listening to B&B yesterday, right?

I caught the tail end of something that made it sound like Boers was convinced Trestman was gone. Did he say that?

B&B were convinced Trestman was gone after the Packers game too. I think he's gone, but I don't believe B&B know much more than we do.

I was expecting DeCamillis and Tucker to be the only ones to let go but then Kromer went and sealed Trestman's fate.

I believe it was Boers talking about "his guy" who is convinced Trestman is gone but that Emery is on the same leash (or similar object). I took it for meaningless "I have sources" talk, but it is another data point.

My brother was pining for Gruden last night until they announced his extension with MNF. I think that would be a disaster

I can't stand that guy. He's as grating as Dick Vitale.

If Emery isn't safe that's really something ownership should know by now and that's really the firing that should happen now. Unlike with current coaches I don't believe there's any restriction on interviewing FO candidates. You could start that search now so you're not behind the curve when hiring coaches.

Kromer may go down as my favorite OC of the Bears ever if that is the case.

I think the time has come for me to finally stop defending Cutler to my family and friends. He's still a top 15-20 NFL QB, but this situation is just toxic. Could he win a Super Bowl someday? Probably, but it would have to have everything else perfect. If they can get anything for him this offseason, I'd rather just see him go. Never thought I'd say that. [expletive] sports.

I still wonder if that was done on purpose to some extent. Some might think it is a career killer, but the perception around the league is that Cutler is a coach killer and I am sure that more than a few football people would be fine with a coach doing what Kromer did specifically because it is about Cutler. Emery talked about not liking the way the apology happened, because this wasn't a story until Kromer tearfully apologized.

If that anything is a 3rd round pick they sure as [expletive] better not let him go.

I wouldn't be surprised if Emery was gone, and at this point I think that's what I'm rooting for, but I really think they might give him one more coaching hire. He's gonna get a high draft pick to play with too.

On one hand, moving Cutler might be good for both he and the Bears. I'm the other had: Henry Burris.

I'd rather start with a new HC

I'm rooting for an overhaul but would live with Emery getting one chance to fix his mess.

I'll have to break my plan down into parts. I'll assume the decision is a top down change like Sulley said with Phillips moving to a Kenney type role.

Part One: President of Football Operations

This one is going to be lazy for me. There's a highly successful GM with tons of experience who has built three franchises. Tons of SB appearances.

Bill Polian. President of Football Operations. He's not without warts. But he would have to be one of the safer hires. He'll hire a GM but like Theo be the main decision maker still. It will be a six year contract. One of my biggest concerns is some recent negative comments he said about analytics, but in full context I think it's okay and his record speaks for itself.

Next up - GM...

President/CEO-John Schneider current GM of Seattle (will he take it as he's comfortable in Seattle)

GM-Eric Decosta Baltimore Ravens (will he take it as Ozzie still lingers on?)

HC-Todd Bowles

OC-Scott Linehan

DC-Defer to Bowles.

I think I'd take Schmeider. A little less experience but obviously young enough to stay in the role. I wonder what his duties were as Director of Football operations.... More executive or more player evaluation?

Anyways if Schneider is acting as like a GM in your role I'm not sure DeCosta would make that switch rather than just wait out Ozzie.

And I have to be convinced on Bowles. I know he had crappy personnel in Philly and lots of injuries and player loss in Arizona but I'm not convinced at his defensive prowess. Isn't Arizona near the bottom of the league this year in pass defense (I think they were when I researched Bowles a few weeks ago).

ETA- looks like they are near bottom on traditional pass ratings, but DVOA liked their efficiency quite a bit...

My main concern is just the coaching staff. I can live either way on Emery though if he is gone I want Phillips gone too.

I think offensively, we need better coaching, and a fast WR option...too easy to sit on our big WR/TE's, especially when they're playing gimpy. Need someone to stretch the field.

Defense obviously needs talent upgrades in addition to the coaching overhaul.

Ownership is gonna get involved. There were 10,000+ no shows last night.

Yeah Doug and OB said 10,549 now shows, I do think ownership will get involved but the Bears/NFL are still getting their money from the season ticket holders if they show up or not.

He's from more of the player evaluation background.

According to PFF, Arizona is ranked 7th against the pass this year and 4th against the run without an offense. He's works in a front office, supposedly a good communicator, etc.

Isn't Wilson supposed to be that deep threat?
