While he put it in the strangest way possible, as a fan, I agree. Winning is winning and there isn't one style to it.

I don't think that's at all what he's saying

What's he saying?

This year, Bennett has been less then a team player at times. Considering the organization just let go of everyone who brought you in, he has to be worried about meshing with the next regime. And, he's probably comfortable in Chicago.

I dont tecall how Bennett has been less than good soldier. Hes been colorful, but not detrimental to the team.

With a skillful front office, they could turn him into a guy whose interviews lighten the mood. A guy that reporters flock to, but he'd need leadership.

I remember in his introductory press conference Emery talking about those things.

He's had a few fights and had some unspecified throwing of teammates under the bus, but I agree he isn't detrimental to the point of cutting ties for no reason.

The fights in training camp.

Yeah thats totally nothing.

Fuller is a loudmouth rookie prick that probably rubbed a bunch of people the wrong way.

That's so tame though. That was strangely the one time that Trestman got all "accountability".

Bennett has, other than some drops, performed on the field, and other than some eccentricities, has been a non-factor off the field.

Also there's only one way to eat a Reeses but whatever.

I would say my dream hire would be Gus Malzahn. Just looking over the possible candidates and there's nothing really that stands out to me.

Can he run a pro-style offense?

The Malzahn allure will have to be explained to me.

Some names that Dan Bernstein is bringing up to be a Sports Business executive...

Jim Phillips - AD from Northwestern

Jay Blunk - Exec Vice Pres of the Blackhawks

Or they could go for a "football-y" guy with a guy like Mike Holmgren.

So any chance theres someone announced at the 4:00 PC as the football consultant?

No, and no one hiring him would expect that just as the Eagles didn't expect a "pro-style offense" when they hired Chip Kelly.

Of course a pro-style offense isn't the same thing it was ten years ago.

Chance...sure. But Bernstein says it's going to be more about a change in organization philosophy...he really thinks it's going to be encouraging. Says that they're aware of how fast they need to move.

What's that have to do with what he said in that quote?

He said what wrigley said he said. He's down with whatever coach of whatever style as long as it's a good coach who has a winning style.

I guess he's trying to sound open to save his job, but I have a feeling he's speak his mind if he had an opinion. He wouldn't go unsigned if he was cut.

He's a damn good player that shows that elusive emotion on the field. He will punch people in the face to get a first down.

and drop the ball

The whole freaking team came to Fuller's defense. Bennett was clearly in the wrong.

why in the holy hell would they keep philips and hire some other non-nfl executive?

49ers moving fast:

@DeSimone_80: After Adam Gase, add defensive coordinators Todd Bowles and Dan Quinn as coaches the #49ers have requested to interview, per @JosinaAnderson

Yeah, hopefully they aren't TOO fast....Bears have some hiring to do before they get to HC.

Well, start rooting for those teams to advance far in the playoffs.

I don't care much about Gase (how much success can be attributed to the OC of a team quarterbacked by Peyton Manning?) but the other two are the two I'm most hopeful for.

@RapSheet

Oddity of the day: #Bears OC Aaron Kromer had his final meeting with offensive players at his house, not the office.

Did he make them pancakes?

Realistically McCaskey already knows who this person is though right?

He's saying that both these guys have run sports organizations, so it would be the non-football business stuff that Ted Phillips would do. This would mimic what the Packers have done by bringing in Mark Murphy, who was the AD in Northwestern before moving to the Packers.

I don't think that's Virginias perception. When the Kromer meltdown happened, and GB, she had to be looking very closely at the team feeling like Trestman has lost control. So anything that might appear to be a blow out of that could be judged as that by her. (Or Mike McCasckey).

She was "embarrassed". Well, how embarrassed?

It would only mimic them if they have a Ted Thompson below him.

Maybe a legitimate demotion for Phillips and not just a reallocation?

Right...but the point is to try to mimic the whole organization setup, possibly. But Dan said the only thing he can says is that Ted Phillips is safe...essentially they don't wanna fire him and want to keep him on somehow.

then they aren't mimicking them and it's pointless to hire another non-NFL exec.

oh god why am I listening to wscr callers right now?

So a non-football executive as CEO, covering all business. Phillips as like VP of finance. Another VP of marketing, both reporting to CEO. Then a position analogous to a COO type role who is your football guy as possibly a HC/FO combo, or just GM.

Feel like that CEO may want to assign some outside football minds to the board along with the McCaskeys.
