Is Duke Tobin related to the Bears past exect Tobin?
Has ties to the Bears as his father is Bill Tobin, the club's former GM, and his uncle is Vince, the defensive coordinator under Mike Ditka after Buddy Ryan departed.

Obviously DeCosta is the premium hire.

Not sure why Biggs included Wolf. Not that he wouldn't eventually go for a GM role but to the Bears? I'd want to hear more on why he would consider that.

Eric DeCosta is the guy they need

Just don't see it happening. He's got a great ready made gig and family ties in Balt.

The Bears job is better. Even with the success of the Ravens.

Yeah, I dont' get the notion that he would pass on the Bears GM job because he essentially has a guarantee to get the Baltimore job whenever Newsome leaves.

See, if I put my head into Virginias, I don't see that hire happening. I didn't think the Tobins left Chicago on a happy note with the old family.

Don't give up so easily. Aggressively pursue the man, who knows what will happen. Maybe Newsome will be in Baltimore for several more years, who knows.

I believe he has turned down other GM interviews so just the title isn't enough. Depends on what value Chicago has as a big city and an original franchise.

Right. No reason to wait around for an inferior job if one of the few blue bloods comes calling.

Could have been GM jobs where he is essentially working for the head coach, or for crazy overbearing owners.

Again, if the Bears approach it like this they are giving up too easily.

Based on my early research, Chicago in 2012 was one of the interviews he's turned down. Things are a little different now, but....

The Bears could essentially get permission to interview McCarthy for a GM/HC gig, right?

Lovie was entrenched at that point.

Things were a ton different. GMs weren't promised a clean slate then.

I get what you're saying Wrigley. Not saying you are wrong either, but they absolutely should give it a try.

Yeah, that GM was told he had to let Lovie coach for a year.

I'm not saying to not give him a call, but realistically speaking he isn't on my radar as far as expectations go.

Kyle Long was asked what kind of coach the Bears should get, and I'm paraphrasing, but he said they need a coach that can establish an identity for this team and DEMANDS that they live up to that identity. They should be a team that other teams don't want to play, and he thinks they have players that can make this team be that way.

I think you start with CEO and let him paint the organizational picture as he sees fit.

Have to move fast. If you get football czar in place, he could move forward without a lengthy interview process.

For all of his college day antics, Kyle has the potential of growing into a very good leader.

Yes on being fast. It was the point of my " 3 days" comment earlier

There is going to be a lengthy interview process, almost certainly. You have to handle Rooney rule situation plus honor playoff interview protocol.
