So yea not the sexiest staff ever but certainly one where you're not running much (or any) risk of incompetence.

A head coach, defensive coordinator and offensive coordinator all with prior experience in those specific roles would be a pleasant surprise.

Obviously I am happy about this. His ability to read defenses and play calling allows the QB to have several options better than almost anyone. McCoy and McCarthy are there as well.

I do think there is the potential for him to rely on the pass too much.

I think you can add one more red flag. Why did Fox take this long to add Gase to his stable of coaches? It seems like all of the HC jobs were sealed up last week, so I can't imagine it was out of respect for Gase's desire to land a HC job.

Probably because he wasn't the top choice. I think they were trying to get Chud and couldn't. Also, Gase was still pursuing other gigs that he didn't get. I think both sides ended up here out of a lack of other options.

Not sure how it could get "sexier"

Fangio seems to be one of the highest regarded DCs in the game, and the move was widely praised

Gase was a candidate for a majority of the HC openings this offseason

The DB coach coming with Fangio is also one of the highest regarded coaches at his position in football

Not sure how the other coaches hired are regraded, but DC and OC are the ones you want to nail and it seems like the Bears did. Jeff Rodgers hire is pretty uninspiring at special teams but whatever.

I was lukewarm on Fox, but after seeing his coordinators and considering how beneficial it is to have a high floor coach in there, I'm pretty excited.

Well right that's his point. Fox would know better than anyone how good Gase is, and he still persued multiple other options before falling back to Gase.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with having a look at other candidates and not blindly taking the guy you worked with previously. The longtime OL coach who follows Fox everywhere is a different situation. A quality OC is going to have other options and he is going to want to explore those options. A quality head coach is going to want to allow that guy to explore other options and will do his due diligence with other potential candidates.

if fox had real issues with gase he probably wouldn't have hired him at all.

Even if we assume Gase is arrogant/entitled, doesn't mean he isn't a good OC. Some times you have to learn a lesson or two before about humility. Ask Josh McDaniels.

@RapSheet: The #Bears are hiring Adam Gase as their offensive coordinator, source said. It’s a 3-year deal.

Others have said it and I agree, I was not interested in Fox but I do like what I have seen of the staff.

I have no idea what Gase is going to do. Do you guys?

I am not completely sure but I will venture a guess that he will design the offense and call plays.

If I'm not mistaken, #Bears still need assistants for following positions: RB, TE, WR, DL, LB.

Only care about the defensive positions and the Bears already have 2 really good defensive coaches who willcontrol most things.
