My favorite conspiracy theory to come out of all of this is that Todd Haley's paranoia that Kansas City Chiefs facilities and phones were bugged during Phil Emery's time as Director of Scouting at Kansas City now looks oddly justified, as Emery learned from Pioli and Hallas Hall is bugged.

It's not to say that the conspiracy theory has any legs, but the way this whole thing has played out is completely bizarre. Kromer apparently talked to Rapoport on Thursday after the Cowboys game, was confronted by Trestman about it the next day, and then on Monday gave what apparently was an incredibly awkward and seemingly forced apology to the entire offense, resulting in Biggs' article going up yesterday, and then followed by a really shaky press conference today.

It's possible Kromer realized he made a mistake after talking with Rapoport and fessed up to Trestman, but the timeline for all of this, along with how it all has been handled, has made very little sense to me if that's the case. From what I've read and heard, none of this has come across as particularly genuine and instead has seemed forced. It'd make a bit more sense if Hallas Hall were bugged and Trestman found out that way, but if Kromer is being forced to go through all this crap, it's not doing anyone any good. It's just making things worse.

Regardless, what a [expletive] mess.

it seems dumb as hell but I don't see the "bugged" angle. wasn't it at the field?

Yep after the Cowboys game.

I, too, am very curious what drove Kromer to come clean. Anonymous quotes to reporters happen all the time. It's likely Kromer had done it before. So why reveal himself about this? The NFL Network's story with the quotes didn't come out until Sunday. Trestman said he knew about it the a Friday before. There's more to the story.

Oh wow nice pick up.

Yea this is weird

@Rich_Campbell: Bears elevated sixth-round rookie QB David Fales to the active roster this morning and put LB Darryl Sharpton (hamstring) on IR.

Will he be getting reps these last few weeks?

Yeah, forgot to include that part in the timing aspect. B&B were talking about it on Friday.

Apparently Fales was nearly picked off the practice squad by another team.

National stories like this need to keep being written to influence change for the ownership.

Trestman is such a weirdo. Addressing the team from the back of the room? I'm glad to see Emery catching flak, too. He needs to be fired along with Trestman.

There's no question Trestman won't make it.

If only they would act now and just cut ties. It might even make me feel slightly better about Emery

I was thinking it was 50/50 before. Every story like this tilts it a little more in our favor, but I think I'll question it until I see it.

Definitely Emery's decision regarding Trestman will say a lot about my confidence in him going forward.

Yeah, I'm thinking there is definitely still some question.

Highlights where they have failed with the offense. Despite some star quality there are no dynamic playmakers. Nobody has to fear giving up the big play so they can focus on limiting the intermediate stuff they rely so heavily on.

All our good players hit the "football players get old too soon" wall simultaneously.

I'm looking on craigslist and seeing tickets for tonight priced at $25 each. MNF against the Saints on an unseasonably mild December night, and people are selling tickets for 1/4 of what they paid. And that's still not enticing enough for me to buy them and go to the game.

I can walk there and it still doesn't really entice me. I'll watch but from the comfort of my couch, chili, and not $8 beer.

laughing at you guys thinking you are going to LOSE to the Saints. They are bad..bad...bad...bad...BAD.

Especially in this weather? C'mon...

Whats wrong with the weather? I know its wet but its not like it will be brutally cold. In fact it will only be around 8 degrees cooler than the temperature of last year's October game when the Saints housed the Bears.

But anyways, its a matter of a team with something very real to play for vs. a disfunctional team with nothing to play for that's coming apart at the seams.

I know it's still cold for southerners but this is actually really beautiful weather. Maybe as nice as the game you beat us last year.

Anyways I'm hoping for a Brees-Stills, Cutler-Jeffery shootout. 50 targets each way should do. 3 TDs a piece with a win to NO.

I sold my four season tickets on stubhub for $41 each today, face was $81. I thought at the start of the season after the Packers and Cowboys game this would net the most return.

I don't want to sit in traffic for 3 hours from the NW burbs and watch a shitty game. Rather go to a bar and pay for $3 shitty beer than $9.25 really shitty beer.

Its nearly 50 in mid December, this is shorts and time to fire up the BBQ weather.

The good news for the Saints is that Robinson, Pierre Thomas and Ingram are all healthy. The bad news is that they are starting some guy named Frederick at CB that no one has ever heard of and our LT is out. Jimmy Graham might get benched tonight, or maybe come in at halftime and get 200 yds receiving in the 2nd half.

yikes, Conte.

David Haugh @DavidHaugh · 2h 2 hours ago

Startling perspective from Chris Conte on to @ZachZaidman on @WBBMNewsradio pre-game on weighing risk of injury vs. playing in NFL. (cont.)

David Haugh @DavidHaugh · 2h 2 hours ago

Conte: "I’d rather have the experience of playing in the NFL and die 10-15 years earlier than not play in the NFL and have a long life.''

David Haugh @DavidHaugh · 2h 2 hours ago

Conte: "I don’t really look toward my life after football. I’ll figure things out when I get there. As long as I outlive my parents.'

David Haugh @DavidHaugh · 2h 2 hours ago

Despite concussions, Conte unconconcerned: "I’m not saying I’m going to go die when I’m 45, 50. I’m fortunate to go out and play football.

David Haugh @DavidHaugh · 2h 2 hours ago

Conte's perspective begs for intervention from family member, coach or friend. He's gotta respect the inherent dangers more than he implies.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised but that's incredibly sad.
