There is so much left undone for a lot of teams and so many players left out there that it is preposterous to say that at this point.

Unless someone signs both Lester and Scherzer, nobody is beating Shark for nothing, Robertson, LaRoche, and Duke.

Is it possible Beane has gone rogue?

Yeah, I have no idea what Beane is doing. Would he have anything to gain by getting himself fired?

Every one of those moves is a move for primarily 2015, and while the Fangraphs depth charts are far from gospel, they'll illustrate the point. After all of these moves, they moved up to the 12th best team in the AL by that metric.

EDIT: My math was wrong, 13th best team in the AL.

I don't know why you're so enamored with these moves.

There are a lot of names available in trade, too. The Sox have had a great offseason to this point, but it's very premature to say that they've "won" it.

Looking like that Samardzija deal may not be real. Sportscenter attributed it to Fox Sports but nothing from Rosenthal or Morosi.

Weird how the MLB network had their breaking news blurb on the bottom right of the screen about Robertson signing with the White Sox, but then proceeded to cut to Heyman discussing how the Yankees are still wanting to sign Robertson and then discussing how great it would make the Yankees bullpen.

Heyman is still saying it's done. The names just weren't right.

I should darn well hope they aren't right. Those are terrible.

The crawl is "live" - the show at the time was not.

Oh ok that makes sense. First time I've ever turned on MLB Network. Thought it was all one live show for some reason.

Ok I thought I was going crazy. Good to know that's exactly what happened.

Welp, now I am back to feeling dumb

Sussan Slusser of Oakland is saying Semien, Chris Bassitt, and a 3rd player. That 3rd player needs to be good because the fake rumor we just made fun of seems to look good now.

It's for a guy who has repeatedly all but screamed from the rooftops that he is going to put himself out there as a FA after next season and everyone knows that there is zero chance of the A's re-signing him; nobody is going to give up a haul for him. This isn't the slam dunk for the White Sox you seem to think it is.

What's the risk? If he walks, they get a pick.

I don't think its that bad of a haul for Oakland, that's a lot of years of control of at least 2 MLB players for one year of Shark. I think there's still too much of a tendency to overvalue prospects as opposed to players who have already played at the highest level.

It just seems like a move for the sake of making a move given the state of their ML team and their farm system.

It's a move to help them contend this season. If it doesn't work, they're still "stuck" with Sale, Quintana, Rodon.

Meh. There are long term pitching options available out there just for cash as opposed to shelling out what few resources they have via their crappy farm system for a single season rental.

if they're not in contention in late july they can always flip him for prospects.
