Put another way, compared to signing Martin we get better performance, lower cost, younger age, lower risk, comparable or possibly lower player cost(2nd rounder v. Montero prospects), and all without having to make a 5 year commitment.

I kinda like trading Jackson in a deal for Crawford myself, but I'm game with Headley too. Not an either/or proposition.

I agree. I think this looks like a big upgrade if you consider that you'll be replacing some crappy, backup catcher.

The A's traded Addison Russell and the White Sox won't give up Tim freaking Anderson?
