Week 11: Vikings (4-5) @ Bears (suck), Noon CBS/780

B&B want the Bears to cut Marshall. Apparently Emery told Marshall "Read your contract" this morning.

Yeah but from the twitter notes I read it seemed to be in jest to some degree. He said something about Marshall needing callouses to box and Marshall showed him his knuckles.

Yeah...It was all silly, but harmless.

I was just thinking that tomorrow's game is only the 2nd game since 2009 that there's nothing on the line for the Bears. Yes technically they are still alive with plenty of season to go but unless they win out it's highly highly unlikely.

It's funny to watch a team for 5 years and have something to be excited about every game and now have to switch to a completely different mindset.

I always say I just want my teams to be competitive for the entire season and give me something to care about. Isn't that the purpose of sports...to entertain? Yeah, it's really nice to win championships but ultimately if my team gives me months of meaningful games, I'm pretty happy with the season.

The Bears have really tested that theory, being competitive to the last 1-2 games almost every year for the last decade but only making the playoffs 3 times. They've been the ultimate tease. Thankfully they at least got a Super Bowl appearance out of that run.

How many teams made the playoffs more times than the bears over that span? How many teams played in more postseason games (a bye counting as a game played) over that span? I don't know these answers but my guess is the bears have definitely been above average in these catagories. And certainly way above average in the winning percentage column.

Speaking of course of lovies tenure.

That's definitely a fumble but I have no idea if they're going to be able to say there was a clear recovery. And Jay must have said something about nailing that ref's daughter, geez.

of course no one recovered the fumble, what was their coach trying to prove with that?
