RT @Ken_Rosenthal: Names in play, according to sources and reports: Gregorius, going to #Yankees. Greene, going to #Tigers. Ray, going to #DBacks. Others, too.

RT @Ken_Rosenthal: Source: Gregorius going to #Yankees. Deal is done.

Random internet guy says that he met a friend of Brady Aiken in his stats class, and that if granted FA, Aiken would like to sign with the Cubs or Padres. So...there's that.

Is there even any chance of that whatsoever at this point?

To hit FA or him to fall to the Cubs in the draft? FA thing isn't happening, he's going to a JUCO, and he'd either have to get hurt or have his stuff significantly fall off for him to fall to #9.

Gregorius to NYY, Robbie Ray and a MiLBer to AZ, Shane Greene to DET

So basically, everyone gets worse except the Diamondbacks.

This is a purge of all the players in the worst 2013 offseason deals.

didi gregorius [expletive] sucks.

Well he was born in Amsterdam, and will now play for New Amsterdam, so there's logic for you

Shane Greene had a pretty nice year least year and decent peripherals, 9.27 k/9, 3.73 FIP, 3.40 XFIP, 1.2 fWAR. FB averaged 93 MPH

Andrew Miller@ 4/36 plus draft or David Robertson at 4/50+. I think the Yankees made the right choice.

I've seen reports they are still likely to go re-sign Robertson as well

Seems like a completely needless waste of money, but then again a bullpen consisting of Betances,Miller and Robertson for the final 3 innings is just ridiculous.

Well, they'll need to prevent runs, because they aren't going to score a ton of them.

Theo: “I think there will be a time when we’re the feared team in free agency. We’re prob not at that time yet."

Probably trying to temper expectations but whatever. You need to spend like $40 million to even have a respectable mid market payroll.

So is this them giving up on Lester?

That change order PTR had to put in on the scoreboards probably forced him to dive into the payroll budget to cover the overruns.

I'm interpreting this as them needing to work harder to convince athletes to play for them over the other big market teams right now vs. them being the juggernaut in the future that all teams assume will be players on the big free agents they need.

To me that says nothing about not spending, just that they aren't the prettiest girl in the bar yet.
