I'm torn on whether these kids are making stuff up and getting lucky or if they hacked someone's e-mail.

The email hack is an interesting angle and I dunno how they're doing it but I am pretty sure I hate them.

Until they break something positive for the Cubs

The Cubs don't use computers as part of their recent budget cuts so good luck with that you snot nosed kids.

What does it matter? They scoop teams that actually do things.

Breaking News: PTR seen in front of Ferguson area Apple Store with a baseball bat in anticipation of looting tonight. Was heard mumbling about needing to replace FOs aging iMacs

Oh good, we've reached the "Other teams are talking to players? The offseason was a waste!" portion of the transactional offseason.

BREAKING: Red Sox extremely, extremely close to signing Jon Lester . 6/7 years 120-130 million. This is huge

I don't understand why we would let Lester slip away, when the alternative is trading away prospects for a similar contract and production.

I take that back - I do get it. We can continue to come in second/third place for the big signings because it's not a "steal", but still look like we're trying.

If he doesn't want to play for Chicago...he won't. I think he's going to be a Cub, though.

It all about the $$.

or signing max scherzer. or james shields.

If they pass on Lester they won't be signing Scherzer, and I haven't seen anything connecting him with us. Shields is a possibility...

My favorite part of the offseason so far was when I was down on the Zimmerman trade reports because I figured why give up prospects when we can just sign our stud ace outright like we had a definitive choice between the 2.

I think it's a legitimate question to ask if the Cubs had any serious plans of contending next year or ever.

I guess it could be that Theo is just conducting some sort of experiment.

They just signed a manager for 5/25. Did people forget this or something?

Also next year's SP FA crop is better than this years.

Yes they continue to spend really big (relatively) on infrastructure

Managers are pointless. The Maddon signing proves nothing except for the fact that his new owner eats ramen every night just like his old owner.

And I'm [expletive] done talking about next year. If they're going to put us through another year of this [expletive] [expletive], they can get fucked.

Top tier/Ace pitchers testing the market generally go to the highest bidder. Bid the most money, and the choice is pretty close to definitive.
