I could not name or recognize a single Pearl Jam song.

That is almost impossible. You would recognize at least Even flow/Jeremy/Alive/Do The Evolution. It played everywhere. You might not think "Oh that's Pearl Jam" right away, but you would know those songs.

I will agree with Sofa that Vedder isn't that great of a singer. At least compared to others in his genre. You got Mark Lanegan/Cornell/Staley/Cantrell/Andrew Wood/Cobain are all better IMO. There's others I might rank higher maybe, but you get the idea. Pearl Jam is just really good at what they do though. They're the Bruce Springsteen of Grunge.

That's what I meant, I wouldn't know that it was Pearl Jam. Evenflow and Alive are familiar.

I mostly remember them from a crappy MadTV sketch about guys who sing really low.

What's your problem. Jerry Cantrell is lead vocals on like two songs. Why do you people hate Eddie vedders voice so much. Kurt Cobain sucks.

what's the minimum number of ironic mustaches a band must have before you respect them

two, one of the chicks in sleater kinney doesnt have one.

in all seriousness, i really like sleater-kinney... but i completely understand why 99% of the population hate them.

Nothing. I actually love Pearl Jam, but I'm also honest about Vedder's voice. He's great at what he does and all, but it's not like he got the range as some of the other vocalist I mentioned. So if Cantrell is co-vocalist, but not leading for most of the songs, he can't be better? Say what you want on Cobain, but a lot of people will disagree with you on that one.

And now back to Lester...

Eddie Vedder singing sounds like the noises I make the morning after drinking one bad beer too many and you get the nasty dark shits accompanied by stabbing, deep gas pains that won't get free no matter what.

Most of the grunge singers sound like some variation on this fart rock range.

I hope the Cubs sign Lester soon because he throws basketballs real good.

Wait, what does sulley listen to? I figured he was all about metal like Iron Maiden.

i only like bands that have songs about railroads

...and Pete Seeger.

Signing Jon Lester would be pretty key in giving Epstein at least some chance of not missing the playoffs for four straight years to start his career with the Cubs and stretching his streak of missing the playoffs to six.

I felt bad that everyone just ignored TT's moddiness and tried to be on-topic to cheer him up.

This is actually a funny description of Eddie's sound. Do Thom Yorke next!

Also, I hope we sign John Lester

Thom Yorke inexplicably has reverse Michael Stipe Syndrome in that for some reason he's getting more mumbly and less coherent as the years go on. It's very sad.

John Lester would bring us a lot of hope!

Cubs insiders did not express confidence as the season ended that they would be successful in their pursuit of top free-agent pitching target Jon Lester. And sources said they’re not especially optimistic after their meeting in the last week. At least four other clubs have been linked to Lester, including the perceived front-running Red Sox.

Hopefully this source is as accurate as his Zimmerman one.
