I don't see Briles or Patterson leaving either TCU or Baylor, there just isn't much there as far as premiere coaches moving up. I would consider Miles and Gundy as two most likely in that category. Maybe Mullen too.

Funny thing is that folks down here would probably buy the plane ticket for Les to go elsewhere. Mullen was maybe one subpar season away from losing his job. Gundy? Meh. I just dislike his whole act. Just reminds me too much of Houston Nutt, a rah rah guy who actually is a buffoon. Perhaps that's an overstatement, but pass.

If I were hiring a coach I would back up the Brinks truck for Briles.

I'm biased and it's too early for elite programs like Um and UF but I like what Stoop s has done at UK. I'm interested in seeing how he handles the BB gun incident involving 4 players. I hope he doesn't go too soft.

Apparantly Ole Miss is about to get investigated by the NCAA for recruiting violations for both football during the Orgeron and Nutt years and yes, women's basketball. Not sure I've ever heard that one before.

I heard this on the radio and did a Google search to post here. That search yielded an article about it, but also this nugget from a few years back. Still gets me every time.

The football violations are "third tier" violations, a couple from almost ten years ago. So much ado about nothing. The main thing is the Women's basketball violation which has already been dealt with two years ago. Coach was fired, players removed from the team, postseason ban, scholarship's removed, etc. The release of this "new information" actually concerns an investigation that occurred two years ago. This is basically just Pat Forde click-baiting on a big week.

Oh, and the "Colonel Reb is crying" song is so classic. Takes me back. Orgeron is such a bafoon.

Well USC got a two year bowl ban and 30 scholarships because Reggie Bush accepted a gift from a pro agent while at SC 6 years prior and a female tennis player made long distance phone calls.

So hey Ole Miss might also get worse sanctions than Penn State.

Ol' Eddie Orgeron is lobbying hard for the KU gig.

Oregon has sucked in this game, but if they lose after that ticky-tack celebration penalty after a 3rd-down spot...

Pac-12 refs, man. And this after Glasses Ref retired.

That was a horrible call. These new rules are designed to give refs too much grey area. You can't give them this much discretion.

I fell asleep during the game what happened with this call?

Oregon got a sack on 3rd down likely leading a FG (can't remember the distance) but the player while running off the field did a Japanese bow like Justin Tuck does and rec'd a celebration penalty/automatic 1st down.

Well so arizona would have had a fg to win the game or take a late lead? Whatever then oregon has not played up to par since the MS game and deserves to be knocked off the NC radar until they have an impressive couple wins.

I'm pretty geeked up for these games tomorrow.

The important detail there is he also sprinted to near-midfield to do that bow. Still, I'm glad it didn't end up making a huge difference in the outcome given the sack/strip.

He would've been flagged had he done it without sprinting to midfield. I'm usually on the other end of this argument but he shouldn't have been flagged for that.

That's literally wrong. The rule very clearly says that you can't do what the player did. We can argue over whether the rule is dumb, but they followed the rulebook on this.

Rule 9-2-1h:

a. Specifically prohibited acts and conduct include:

...

(h) Going into the stands to interact with spectators, or bowing at the waist after a good play.

Cool interactive map breaking down the favorite college football teams by county.

I question the inclusion of the Florida Gators as #3 in Hoboken. Penn State #1 makes sense, Rutgers #2 I will allow, despite anecdotal evidence that people only kind of follow them by default. But Florida #3? I'd say Ohio State and Notre Dame have a clear advantage in presence, while even Syracuse has some people. I know there's a mid-sized sports bar that has a big Gators flag inside, but they have about a billion other things hanging up as well and there are dozens of other bars to consider.

Several counties in central Minnesota have the Oregon Ducks anywhere from 1-3. Any guesses as to why? (A real question, I have no idea).

Same reason there are Duke basketball fans there I would imagine. Nationally relevant team that's on prime time TV with flashy uniforms.

Duke has flashy uniforms?

Duke is an historical powerhouse, and conservative white boy mecca.

Oregon is all flashy and well marketed by some of the best marketing people in the world, Nike. It's definitely uniform related but not Duke basketball related.
