Apparently Rachel Nichols really was asking some excellent questions...and Goodell wasn't having it.

He looked like he wanted to clock her.

 

He wouldn't follow through just wanted to see if he could finally make her blink

From all indications, this was a 1 time event (not that it even remotely condones his actions) and he and his now wife had gotten past it. They did all the counseling. Rice has never lied or downplayed the situation. He hasn't always said the right things as he's had his wife doing too much of the talking, but he's never hidden from any of it. Goodell, the Ravens, Rice's lawyers, etc. have done everything wrong and made this situation worse.

His apparently nonchalant attitude in the video after just knocking a woman out cold would lead me to believe that was not his first time hitting a woman. I imagine if I snapped and knocked my girl out cold I'd probably be freaking out a bit more than he appeared to be. I doubt I'd be calmly dragging her around like that.

 

Maybe I'm way wrong though.

The complete incompetence of others in no way allows someone to come off "looking the best" in this situation.

 

At best, it's different types of pieces of [expletive].
