Wow... that was a shot. Are we sure he is just a 15-or-so HR guy?

better question: are we sure he's not the #1 prospect in the game?

Any idea what his contact numbers look like this year

Russell (20) is at 81.4% with Tennessee

Bryant (22) was 68.8%

Baez (20) was 65.5%

i don't anticipate Ks being a problem for Russell at all

What were Starlin's contact numbers in AA (and where do you find them)?

The I-Cubs' announcer tweeted Bryant's homer to LCF came on a 99 mph fastball. That was after pulling a 97 mph heater foul.

When is the earliest we see Cease? Most certainly not at all in the minor league season next year, right? But, would he be ready for fall instructs?

He could see the AZL next year. He's already had his TJS. Even if there's a year long recovery, he'd be there by now. If its a quick recovery, he could get most of that season in.

That said, it's plausible we take it slow with him obviously. But I'd expect him to get some innings in, barring setbacks.

as far as i know, minor league contact rate numbers only go back a few years

player pages at minorleaguecentral.com have the contact rates (under Pitches)

Ok, assuming it is ((AB-K)/AB) it was 81% for Castro in AA.

Also, His minor league numbers look boring by our current standards. Only 9 HR in 1100 PA, blah.

Steele and Sands

Coming to TNT in 2015. We know drama.

I would trade Steele and Sands for Franklin and Bash in a heartbeat.

I don't recall seeing any official word that he'd already had the surgery. Where was that reported?

I don't either but it was scheduled to be on July 22.

Fall instrux 2015 and spring XST 2016, we'll get some Arizona Phil reports. June 2016, box score games in short season. 2017 full season and pitching to win.

Possibly 1-5 innings in Arizona rookie league during August of 2015. Even if he did get a couple of game innings next year August, they'd not be letting him throw breaking balls or throw hard that soon, even if he could.

Yeah, that's how I see it too.

I can make a reasonable argument for any of our top four guys as the top prospect in baseball.

That's pretty crazy.

My PESSIMISTIC prediction for them

Soler- generational talent, multiple MVPS

Bryant-great power hitter for a decade, multiple ASG

Russell-best all around SS in baseball, multiple ASG

Baez-will break Jeff Kent's HR record for 2nd, multiple ASG

Any of those four could very well be each of those respective things, but I think we're being a bit overzealous to think that this is a low end prediction of how all four will turn out. A pessimistic prediction may be that one becomes an all star, two are solid mlb players, and one flames out.

Yeah, totally missed the sarcasm there. I was thinking that was a bit of a crazy comment for CubinNY.
