Damn these 5 am wakeups! I went to bed early (10pm EST) and missed all the fun.

Don't really like the Almora promotion, but I trust Theo & Co. to know best. They've been pretty aggressive this year. Didn't expect Bryant to be at AAA so soon (of course, I didn't exactly expect him to make a joke of AA). Didn't expect Soler to AA so soon (still only has 77 PAs above A-ball). Didn't expect Schwarber to Daytona, because he's not quite the prospect Bryant is/was and I didn't think he'd be on a similar track in his drafted year.

Of all the Cub prospects, I'm really looking forward to Soler for whatever reason. Looking forward to September

Cespedes and Puig? Those guys have come up and had success pretty early on (Cespedes has since been pretty meh at best), and Soler supposedly was more talented than both of them coming from Cuba. I'm guessing that has a lot to do with it.

Abreu too.

So does McKinney move to CF now at Daytona?

Rademacher is roster filler and Schwarber certainly isn't going out there. So yeah, unless they promote Hanneman.

Not that he's even a top 30 prospect for me but I don't believe Rademacher is roster filler (yet).

Always forget about him.

I don't think the BBs are coming.

they probably never will if his timeline stays aggressive

patience is probably somewhat un-learnable. at least, it's not the kind of thing you waste development energy on unless it's the difference-maker between sinking and swimming. my assumption is that doing so likely brings them to the brink of washing out, a la 2013 starlin castro. that might just be a prejudice of mine based on anecdote though

however, the "pick your pitches" skills do increase discipline, which should lead to more walks, though that is probably mitigated by aggressive hitting tendencies. ideally, high-contact skills can couple with pitch discipline to at drive high pitch count ab's, even if that particular combination of skills don't lend themselves to a high isod

I will pay for the balls, the pens or whatever, tickets, s&h and a reasonable tip to anyone who can get me signed balls from these 3 guys

I've been to a few Iowa Cubs games and have never seen Javy even entertain the idea of signing an autograph. Same with Arismendy when he was there. Bryant and Manny on the other hand, signed for just about anyone that asked.

You can get Javy post game on the way to his car, he rarely touches it inside. Bryant signs a lot, but is getting tougher. These guys have been pounded this year.

What? I know you love Cespedes, but he's been nothing special. Good, better than any of our OF, but not so much as to have been a difference maker. Of the recent wave of noteworthy Cubans, he's been the least productive. Relative to expectations, probably a little meh.

That's not to say I don't wish the Cubs had signed him; I absolutely do. But I think there's a very good chance that Soler will be better. Perhaps a lot better.

Almora got promoted because he can make contact with all the weak ass breaking balls in High-A, and the Cubs are hoping he won't be able to in AA and will learn some pitch recognition.

I was trying to make a similar point but unable to come up with a sentence that makes sense.

The promotion was more about getting him out of the FSL than rewarding his success. I'd expect him to spend a lot of time in AA before the next move.

If Almora just provides a cheap, cost controlled plus glove in CF, I'm cool with that. We'll need our Cesar Geronimo.

At this point, I think a reasonable positive outcome for Almora would be a CF version of Castro, but with slightly better defensive production.

Cespedes was amazing his rookie year but has been pretty [expletive] meh since.

wrong

He's currently on pace for a very similar season as he had his rookie year.

not sure where you're getting your info, but his OPS is about 120 points lower than his rookie year.

Yeah, that seems like their thought process.
