I'd listen to offers for anyone in the rotation. Arrieta appears to be injury prone. If you can dupe someone into giving up a Top 50-60 prospect for him you do it.

Kind of strange that they would listen on offers for Arrieta but not Travis Wood.

Wood can hit too. He's way too valuable to this anemic offense!

Textbook sell high

He's 28 and under team control for 3 more years. Door number two's always intriguing, but at some point, we're going to think in terms of a big league rotation beyond July.

Arguello with as vague a rumor as you can imagine.

Speaking of rumors, one source advised me not to dismiss the Jake Arrieta rumors so quickly, as I did yesterday. I was told there was a very interesting offer made for him involving two very good players, though I do not know who those players are.

A very Heyman-esque rumor.

I don't know man, I can imagine a more vague rumor. I mean, he included an actual player's full name.

Gavin Floyd fractured his pitching elbow last night, so I'd imagine the Braves may have a bit of interest in acquiring one of our SP. Who would/should be some targets there? Sims and Cabrera look intriguing.

They can just put Alex Wood back in the rotation.

ETA looks like they were already preparing to do that before this happened. He's in AAA and made a couple starts

Said on MLB Network last night that the last person who had that injury was Joel Zumaya, and he has never pitched again. Big blow for Floyd. It was ugly too.

Harang and Santana's starts have been pretty ugly over the past month.

I think Santana will be given a pretty long leash, they do have David Hale in their pen as well who did fine early in the year as a starter. I'm just not sure starter will be their first priority and they continue to have a limited budget

Happened to Prior, too, didn't it? :(

I'm neither religious nor superstitious, but God happened to Prior.

Any chance that Russell's rebuilt some value? Been great since May. Not a ton of Ks, but not many walks or runs.

Only if there's a team out there that needs a lefty reliever and thinks reliever ERA means something.

I think our better hope is someone wants a "veteran".

As much as I hate them, The Brewer's bats just keep thumping away. However, their pitching simply isn't build to last, and they're full of injury risks and guys who have been historically inconsistent all throughout. Even if they were to take a 2nd half tumble, and as of now, they show no signs of doing so, they've built a nice enough pad that there's no excuse for them to fall out of contention. They're a win now team without much to fall back on beyond the next year or two.

They certainly don't have what it takes to land Shark or Hammel, maybe even Jackson. But they'd be a great partner for guys like Barney, Villanueva, Russell, Schierholtz, and Wright. They don't have much in terms of a farm system, but one of our FO's strengths is finding the type of hidden gems that guys like that could bring back.

I don't think they want or need Barney.
