There's plenty of negativity going on in here and NONE of its coming from me.

I didn't say I wasn't being negative. I said I was being *on-topic* negative.

There's a lot to be negative right now in the minor leagues. Basically every one of our hitting prospects swings-and-misses way too much or can't draw walks. And our good pitching prospects are all either hurt or wild or both.

Most of us were talking about how all the prospects had crummy Aprils.

The only person to bring up something non-minor league related, something processy, was whoever brought up the future rotation. So that guy's getting banned, the rest of us are cool.

Please. All you've been doing is doombonering everything that's going on. Me showing a potential rotation isn't even about "the process" as much as it is trying to turn your doom and gloom on CJ into something that's not that big of a deal. There's plenty of negativity going on in here and NONE of its coming from me.

Ok, I respect that because I also hate kyle, but that future rotation you listed is not going to do much to help.

It was a pretty ridiculous rotation.

Why? A frontline SP thru FA and Wood is a solid start. Keeping Shark would be a plus. Coming up with a 4 and a 5 out of what I mentioned, one of which involves us trading top 100 types FOR a SP doesn't seem that unfathomable to me.

I'm getting really close to banning a bunch of people from the fricking minor league forum.

Pray tell why that is? Is it verboten to criticize "the process"?

Of course not. But there's a difference between reasonable criticism and literally every post being doom and gloom, in every forum and thread. It's so tiresome by this point.

Well at least you are literally pointing a realistic portrait of reality.

I do think literally every post from Kyle is doombonering.

There's a bunch of smart guys saying they don't like my fictitious future rotation. I like it, but I'll certainly understand if others don't. But mainly, I truly think its just silly to be THIS down on the minor leaguers, when we're 15-20 games into a season. If my attempt to deflect sucked, I apologize for that. But I'm sick of the sky is falling crap this early on.

And for the record, I like Kyle. I just don't like the doom and gloom this early, when it's premature at best and likely unneeded at all.

Call me crazy but I think people are venting about the combination of the major league team being even worse than expected plus the minor leaguers failing to show positive signs. I don't think everybody is "this" down on them as much as just pointing out how stupid the idea of depending on several prospects all succeeding at the same time to be how you did yourself out of the repetitive 90 loss hole.

When somebody points out the entirely reasonable idea that the base assumption for any one prospect is that he will fail, that person is ridiculed as a doom and gloomer instead of just being realistic. Many of these guys are going to fail hard. None of these future rosters that are littered with current prospects are going to be both accurate and very good.

CJ getting hurt is a huge deal. Many supposedly smart baseball bloggests and professional writers have said he's a bullpen arm. This set back (most positive way to describe it) certainly supports that prognostication. That is bad news for the Cubs. They need really good starting pitchers.

Hopefully he proves otherwise.

That doesn't really belong in the minor league threads and is pretty much exactly what I'm (and CR & TT) complaining about.

I don't really think people are getting ridiculed for your premise here.

@TommyBirch: I-#Cubs skipper Marty Pevey said that OF Matt Szczur is day-to-day after fouling a ball off his foot in a game. #PCL #MiLB

My favorite part was how Javy's contact rate in his first 10 AAA games is important but a pitcher's peripherals don't matter.

Did da lounge orchestrate a massive work of performance art?

OMG FML!! So now it will probably be 2020 before we try to compete.

whoa, that proposed rotation was supposed to make us feel better?

I'm sorry but that does not make any sense.

The minor league forum only exists as a place for discussion because of the potential for these players to one day help the Cubs. You cannot reasonably expect any conversation about the minor leagues without the ebb and flow of their perceived value playing a part.

And these things always derail the most when people whine about how other fans go about fanning. If some aspect of the discussion bothers people it should be on them to ignore it, or at the very least stay out of it.

for what it's worth, a top FA, samardzija and wood is not a bad start to a rotation. however, 2 of those 3 pieces are pretty long shots at this point.

weird I never heard any "KEEP IT ON TOPIC GUYS" posts when people were posting fantasy 2019 major league lineups with all the cubs super prospects in the minor league forum.

Yeah, the pushback against people who point out the flaws in our underpants gnome rebuild tends to get ignored when it comes to who derails what.

The problem is there's been no indication we'll be extending Shark, so now you need the return on him to fill into a top 3 spot in the rotation immediately, AND you need to hit on one of the few frontline FA SPs. It's not difficult to be skeptical.

I was thinking that today when I was listening to Bruce Lavine on the score. Mac and Spegiel asked him about Jason Hammel and his future with the Cubs. Lavine said he'll be gone by the deadline.

4 pages!! I thought Javy had a 4 homer game in a surprise Tuesday afternoon game. This thread really turned out to be a doom boner or some other term you youngsters use.

edit: dang it, it's only Monday aaaarrrrrgggghhhh

Personally, I don't mind anyone doom bonering or venting or whatever you want to call it. I just am more patient than that. I find it foolish, but have no problem with people doing it. That said, oy vey, what a thread...

Back to truly being on topic, the D-Cubs game is under way and Almora just scored on a Bijan Rademacher double.
