#Cubs report good news on CJ Edwards MRI. There is some fatigue, inflammation in shoulder but everything structurally sound

Edwards will rest for couple weeks, then start a throwing program

whew, cubs are still on track to be good in three years.

Hopefully this thread turns into a nuanced discussion about the plan and its timeline.

Put him on a 5,000 calories a day-diet while he's taking some time off.

The Nick Smith diet. It worked out great for him.

Mike Tisdale. Nick Smith was the tallest player in Illinois history. You mistook the annoying things announcers say.

The Cubs’ top pitching prospect is expected to be sidelined for more than a month with a shoulder injury, but the Cubs considered the results of C.J. Edwards’ MRI on Friday good news.

The MRI showed inflammation but no structural damage in his right shoulder, the team said. The team plans to shut him down for the next two weeks then have him start a throwing program and work back into pitching shape.

given his stature does this sort of track him into a bullpen arm in the bigsor is this just one of those things with nothing to read into for the future.

I dont see why this would effect anything in the longterm. Plenty of guys come back from TJS and other surgeries that put them out for a year and end up starters. Missing a month of shoulder fatigue shouldnt put a good prospect in the bullpen.

Considering a large portion of "experts" had him moving to the bullpen specifically because he was likely to suffer from fatigue, I cannot see how you can dismiss it and treat him just like any other pitching prospect.

That'd be pretty optimistic. We should probably just go ahead and see if he can play LF.

And it leaves him as unlikely to eclipse his previous innings high of ~118
