So I guess Dave Cameron thinks Aaron Nola should go 1.1.

Cameron is only talking about prospect rankings though. The draft is a different animal. In the draft, upside should probably trump polish in most instances.

I don't think that is universally true.

If trading Shark seems inevitable (2 sides can't meet) - I'm excited to see what the return is b/c he's been a beast so far this year.

I've been in the trade him camp for a long time now, but if Jeff is still pitching like this in another month; then I'm fine with giving him his 6/100 or whatever he was looking for.

I'm not sure what I'd do. Only because if he keeps this up, I'm unsure of what would be offered and I'm also unsure of his price demands at that point.

I'd keep him, if Sanchez/Stroman is the best offer we get and be wants 6/100 with a NTC.

OTOH, I'd probably take that package if he wants 6/150.

I'm also fine holding on to him all year if there's a legit chance he'd re-sign in the offseason. Which we truly don't know.

Assuming we're bad again next year I can't imagine a scenario where he'd come back

Short of playing .667 until the deadline, or God forbid he gets hurt ala Garza, does anyone even think there's a chance? Seriously every time I've heard him speak in the last year, he's sounded like he's decided he's out.

That puts is at 83 wins. At the deadline. I think there are less ridiculous scenarios where we keep him.

Nevermind. I ain't good at this math stuff. It's actually 63-45 (assuming trade deadline = 2/3 of the season or 108 games).

What sucks is that if he's traded, I could see him progress to the level where he is truly an ace. Hopefully what we get in return truly pans out at the MLB level, otherwise we will wish what could've been.

There aren't many pitchers I'd take over him based on this year alone. He's better than I ever thought he could be. I was really wrong about him. He looks like he knows exactly what he's doing and has been in control every start. Theo is going to have a hard time getting equal value for him in a trade.

Did Shark lose focus last year or wear down? His ERA by month last year was 3.35, 2.31, 4.20, 5.28, 5.54, and 5.58.

Either way, my guess is if we do decide to trade him, it'll be early on in trade season.

He didn't wear down in 2012, so I doubt it was that.

if we decide? is it really still a question?

I honestly don't think it's been decided.

Do you think it wasn't decided last June when they said there were still discussions to extend Garza?

Garza had legit red flags-attitude issues and arm questions. Shark is trending up. He makes sense to keep, in my opinion, even if 2016 is the first year we're expected to contend. I HOPE that last year, with Garza, was just talk and they knew all along he'd be dealt. With Shark, I hope the talk is legit in wanting him back.

Outside of a big contract I don't know why Samardzija would stick around and wallow in this dumpster fire going on in Chicago. The Cubs are most likely 2 years away from doing anything in the NL Central and that's banking on the young talent. I like him but wouldn't not blame him for asking for a trade soon. He's getting terrible run support where he's currently at and he's not getting any younger.

Attitude issues? Is this because he pointed out the obvious that no smart veterans want to partake in the farce the Cubs organization is performing.
