So some random DT target canceled his visit to ND this weekend so he could go to Tennessee instead. Tennessee already has 34 commits in this class, so why not try to make it an even 35. If all 35 sign, that brings their 4 year total to 105, which is just a touch over the 85 man limit.

the SEC is never going to stop with the over-signing.

yup, and it's safe to say this is the typical prevailing mindset amongst their fans:

and from that article:

  • That means if we signed all 27 today, the roster would be nine guys too big. Factor in Coker coming in in the fall, and that number jumps to ten too big. So where will those open slots come from?

i don't feel sorry for these players anymore, either; if you put your kids/yourself in an SEC program, you should know full well by now you're getting no assurances whatsoever of keeping that scholarship for 4 years

I get that, but they're 17 or 18 and being lied to (or at least mislead).

Army All-American DT Michael Sawyers. Hell of a player and smart kid too. Yeah the Tennessee thing is out of control this year.

He'll be a Rebel anyways. Because bitches and money...

either rival programs that actually honor their scholarships are doing a terrible job of communicating the risks of signing with St. Saban's Memorial Hospital, or these players are too hopelessly naive to get the point

I love that Mandel is just now asking questions about this sexual assault that resulted in an expulsion, today, 4 years after the event (and after the player graduated and used all his eligibility). The story "raises a *lot* of questions" for Mandel. I think the verb you're looking for is "raised" - the questions were raised 4 years ago.

The latter. You're an 18 year old kid who dominates [expletive] high and bangs the cheerleader, it'll be those other guys that wind up losing their scholarship, sucks for them.

I agree. The system is designed to exploit that mindset.

It's dirty as can be, but I love what LSU did.

Apparently they scheduled OC Cam Cameron on a flight from NOLA to Los Angeles this weekend under the guise of a recruiting trip, and he'll return on Sunday. Those flights just happen to be the same flights as Malachi Dupre is on for his visit to LSU.

Well done, LSU. You fully get the SEC message of "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'."

I'm confused, why would the recruit be on a NOLA to LA flight on Friday and LA to NOLA on Sunday if he were visiting LSU for the weekend? Or is it backwards and they sent Cameron to LA earlier in the week and will send him back at the end of the weekend?

Cameron was on the same flight as the recruits (Malachi Dupree, Kenny Young and Davon Godchaux) to LA Thursday night and will be on the same flight back on Sunday. They're visiting UCLA. Apparently he's staying at the same hotel. Mora met the recruits at LAX and apparently saw Cameron at the time, no idea if pleasantries were exchanged.

Cameron is in LA doing an in-home with Adoree Jackson. The flight was the only non-stop from New Orleans to LA that day. The reports of Cameron returning on the same flight home are in error. He's already returned to Louisiana.

That makes it much less impressive and fun.

Jim Mora cannot believe another school would dare to bend the rules

I doubt he's that upset. His real recruiting doesn't begin until the kid has signed an LOI with another school.

Yeah, he was scheduled to do an in-home in Texas with Porter the next day. Of course, rumor is he did sit next to Young and Dupree on the flight.

Aww, are the Notre Dame fans bitter? Thank goodness Brian Kelly is a saint; otherwise they'd be incredibly hypocritical.

If you've got a story about Kelly bending recruiting rules at ND, we're all ears. Go ahead. Whenever you're ready.

And before you clowns start up with the jokes, murdering videographers is NOT bending the rules.

I suppose he was recruiting the videographer to hell for Satan, his master. So ok, that's a fair point.

Sounds like I Mackenzie may be stuck holding the bag tomorrow. He was an ND commit most of the season but he needed to bring his grades up. When he did, a bunch of schools offered and he decided to take visits and decommit. He never took an official to ND bc he wanted to see 5 other schools but his ND offer hinged on meeting with the admissions people on campus. When he didn't visit ND, he lost his offer. Turns out, all his offers were conditional and those other schools filled up and pulled their offers. He may get a UGA offer but he may not. Kid overplayed his hand something fierce.
