Emery's presser today said Hixon is there to compete for a spot, will get a shot at returning during preseason. Says still talking to Melton, but money is running out. Tillman is an ongoing thing.

Fortunately these putzes are pretty deep in the minority.

Yeah, the data is skewed. Since everyone else is vaccinated, it's pretty damn hard for them to catch anything, which leads them to believe that vaccinations aren't needed.

It's not just mandatory vaccines: [expletive] people at my last job used to tell me they were afraid of catching the flu from the flu shot or worse, that it was going to give them some sort of deadly reaction. Sick people who don't know stats.

That second link is awful. Just because they are right in the big picture doesn't mean their argument/presentation isn't terrible.

I don't disagree about the way it's presented.

Back to football:

I really like what Emery is doing in re-stocking the D. The draft has one real difference maker at DE, and he won't be there when we pick. There are some excellent contributors to be had on the D-Line, though, and now we can build that depth in the 2nd-4th rounds.

The one position we haven't addressed is CB. Thus I still say we will be picking Dennard, or Gilbert if DD isn't available. You can then grab a DT in 2nd (Sutton? Tuitt? Could Hagemann drop?), a DE in the 3rd (Jackson Jeffcoat? Chris Smith?), and another DT or a RB in the 4th (one of the LSU guys? Carey for AZ?). In the 5th I really like the idea of getting a developmental QB like Murray or Boyd.

BTW, does anyone know why Boyd had dropped so far in most evaluations? He was considered a 1st Rounder in many places early this past season.

plz no first round DB. plz DT.

To me Denard and Gilbert are better than the DT options.

Speaking of which, Wilfork wants out of NE. I realize he's a 3-4 guy is prob bound for Pittsburgh or something like that, but it would be a ton of fun (pun intended) having him here. Makes Ted Washington look small.

Melton is spending the night in Minnesota.

My guess from this point forward: Bring back Tillman and bring in one more Safety FA. Bring in Weeden as the backup QB.

Draft Donald in the 1st, a CB and a DE in rounds 2-3. Spend the 4th, 5Th, and 2 6ths on WR, LB, RB, O-Line.

Dennard and Gilbert seem like good picks at that spot and it really seems like a DT could fall into trade up territory in Rd2. I have read its a good CB draft though. Overall I'm really just in BDPA mode for rounds 1 and 2 and probably 3. Not at all interested in trading down though.

We could also fall into the DE/OLB rusher category for round 1 as our signings point towards some system flexibility.

The on again/off again romance between Emery and Dante Rosario is back on. Yee haw!

I agree, other than I think they're going to draft a QB and be fine with Jordan Palmer for a year. I don't see a WR targeted. They have Marshall, Jeffery, Wilson, and now Hixon....and that's even assuming Bennett and Weems are cut.

Definitely not a situation to be indifferent about.

I don't need to like or respect athletes to root for them.

Yeah, the vast majority of professional athletes are idiots, [expletive] or worse. I'll settle for my favorite players not falling into the "worse" category. If respecting them personally was a requisite for rooting for them, I'd have a problem being a sports fan.

Negligent parenting of children is pretty damn close to worse.

Agreed. If Jay's little bastard goes to school and infects your kids, it's pretty damn shitty.

you know, i'm glad that these vaccine weirdos have popped up, because, i think it's actually heightened awareness of how important it is to get vaccinated. it's caused an actual sort of reaction in reasonable people who may have never thought about it before to learn more.

but yeah, Jay, say it ain't so, homie. i mean, you have diabetes, it's like super-important for people with diabetes to get vaccinated. now you know that.

Seems like the Melton love just isn't there and he'll only be getting a one year deal at low value. Do the Bears want him back if he's going to be relatively cheap?

Seems so, but they aren't willing to wait for him, so he better make up his mind.

But yeah, with missing so much time this year, and not playing like anybody special when he did play, and his current health a question...teams are probably not willing to make a huge cash/years commitment.
