Miami has to control their own destiny, they are the 6 seed right now

How is that possible?

They all have 7 or 8 wins but don't face each other and the tie breakers are different for each individual matchup.

They don't, because they win the 3 way tiebreaker, but not the 2-way tiebreakers. So if they all win, Miami goes to the playoffs, and if they all lose, Miami goes to the playoffs, and if just Miami wins, Miami goes to the playoffs, but if just one of Baltimore/San Diego also wins, then Miami does not go to the playoffs.

Oh god I just looked it up, it really is a mess. Wouldn't they go to the playoffs though in a two way tie with SD? They have a win over them, they do have a loss to BAL though so I get now why a 2 way tie between those 2 results in BAL going.

Also, Baltimore is the only AFC team that can make the playoffs with a loss, as if Miami does lose, they lose the tiebreaker to the NY Jets.

If the Bears lose this week and things go right everywhere else around the league, the Bears could be drafting as high as 12th, depending on what happens with the tiebreakers.

If they wind up with the 12th pick they should trade down. They need as many picks as possible to fill all the holes on D.

Forget that. D is irrelevant in the modern NFL. Draft more offense and score on every possession.

So the weather looks interesting for Sunday. High of 28 low of -3. Mondays high is 3. So I guess how uncomfortable this game will be depends on what time the cold front comes in. We could see temps in the 20s or we could see barely above 0 temps.

In addition to its scathing review in its Re-Focused feature, PFF weighs in on a few of the craptacular individual performances from our defense from this past Sunday in its aptly named "Had a Bad Day Team":

Edge Rushers: David Bass, CHI (-4.7) and Jason Hunter, OAK (-4.4)

Hunter started off badly with two penalties on the Chargers opening drive and never made any kind of impact to negate that. Bass only needed 32 snaps to look woefully out of his depth in the run game. A familiar story in Chicago these days.

Dishonorable Mention: Olivier Vernon (MIA) and Malicah Goodman (ATL)

Linebackers: Dannell Ellerbe, MIA (-5.5) and Lance Briggs, CHI (-4.3)

Well that wasn’t pretty. Ellerbe was wearing a bull’s-eye on Sunday as the Bills teed off on him, their linemen having no problem with him at the second level. On his return to the starting lineup Briggs fitted right into the Bears defense rather than providing a much needed boost. Just how healthy is he?

Dishonorable Mention: Philip Wheeler (MIA) and Daryl Sharpton (HOU)

Cornerbacks: Tracy Porter, OAK (-4.5) and Chimdi Chekwa, OAK (-4.3)

Two penalties, six missed tackles and 108 yards allowed by the pair. Suffice to say even a slightly off his game Philip Rivers had some fun with the Raiders cornerbacks.

Dishonorable Mention: Don Carey (DET) and Brice McCain (HOU)

Safeties: Major Wright, CHI (-4.4) and Ryan Mundy, NYG (-4.3)

Another stinker from Wright who is truly having a year to forget. More woes in the run game from him. Mundy himself had some big issues in this regard, with Joique Bell treating him as a human treadmill with four broken tackles.

Dishonorable Mention: T.J. Ward (CLE) and George Iloka (CIN)

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet

The #Packers simulated injury report listed LB Clay Matthews as OUT already. He re-broke his thumb on Sunday. A big loss.

Wow.

Yeah I'll be disappointed if we don't score at least 30 against a Packers D that is bad even with Matthews.

They have a limited pass rush with him, without him they virtually should get no pressure on Cutler.

They'll blitz to no end. And based on Sunday night, they'll blitz on the right side of the OL.

Yeah. Their run D is toast too. Just lost Jolly, a struggling Le'Veon Bell got them pretty good. Of course it's not as obscene as ours, but I'd like to see Forte early and often.

I don't know why but I have a strange feeling Rodgers is getting cleared tomorrow, even though it would go against everything we've heard lately. Hopefully it's just gas.

Looks like Randall Cobb will be back tomorrow. I'm imagining Rodgers will play too. I'm also just going to assume Cutler will have a terrible game, get let go in the offseason and the Bears will be back to talentless QB play for the rest of my life, because....only my teams.

Well, fwiw Mortensen said he expects Rodgers will not be cleared.

I think the Packers are doing a nice job of keeping this thing up in the air week-to-week.

Yea, I'll be shocked if Rodgers is cleared to play. Seems like their whole "We did the tests on Tuesday, and we'll tell you what they say on Thursday" is a pretty clear shot across the bow that we're not to expect the story to be any different.

They have sneaky and opportunistic corners though, which scares me.

That's what worries me also. It's what they've done to Cutler since he's been here. They blitz, and the CBs make it tough for the WRs to get off the line and then jump the quick routes.
