That pleases me, if they see Kalish as being a legit replacement for Nate.

If you lined up our OF depth chart 10 deep, I'm not sure the back five would be any worse than the top five. It's all one big undifferentiated mass of fourth-outfieldiness.

That made me laugh. I'll likely cry in a minute when I see its a completely true statement.

Makes sense, wouldn't want to try to build up too much outfield depth. And Kalish has been forcing his way onto the roster, why after today he's 2 for 11 with 2 singles! Come on, Morosi.

How about Darwin Barney to the Tigers to fill in for Jose Iglesias?

Possibly. But Drew makes sense, if he's willing to take a one year deal.

Would also depend on how much they value the draft pick they'd be losing by signing Drew

Looks like Patrick Corbin May need Tommy John surgery.

Sucks on Corbin, as I was with Brett, in thinking we still had a shot at Delgado.

As for the Tigers, They're in win now mode and losing a pick wouldn't matter that much to them, in my eyes.

According to Levine anyway, Arizona is asking about Shark again. I'd guess its a pretty short conversation on our end though. If Bradley isn't available-neither is Shark.

Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that the Pirates are shopping outfielder Jose Tabata.

This is an indication that the Pirates believe top prospect Gregory Polanco is close to major-league ready. Tabata, 25, batted .282/.342/.429 with six home runs and 33 RBI over 106 games last season and still has three years and $12.25 million remaining on his contract. He should generate interest.

I would not mind checking in on the price.

Also it looks like the Phillies are trying to trade Jimmy Rollins before the season starts. The Tigers make sense as a trade partner there. I could also see the Yankees, because of course.

Would Alcantara be a good place to start with PIT?

Wow, Tabata has been around for nearly 4 full seasons, crazy.

I don't mind Tabata, but on the downside:

- He's strictly a LF

- He may just be the Junior Lake of Tomorrow

- The Pirates are a poor match if they want guys close to MLB ready.

No, no, no. Tabata's value isn't close to that. And if by some extremely slim chance someone comes close to that type of price, I really hope and doubt it'd be us.

We need an outfielder or three, but we didn't sit on our hands all offseason when there were several available for just cash, just to trade something valuable to a division rival to get a kinda crappy one.

Not to set off the SSR signal, but is there a chance in hell we could get Porcello for this package of crap?

FOX Sports' Jon Morosi reports that the Marlins are shopping starting pitcher Jacob Turner.

The Marlins have starting pitching depth and long-term needs at second base and first base, so they're trying to do some roster shifting. Turner, a first-round pick (ninth overall) in 2009, posted a 3.74 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 118 innings last season for Miami. A trade of Turner would clear the way for an early-season promotion of Marlins top pitching prospect Andrew Heaney.

Only 22, I'm sure Theo and Jed would love to get him since he would fit in with our plan. Wonder what it would take? Barney and a couple other positional prospects?

If not him, I'm sure there's some failed Orioles prospect we can acquire.

I can't see them being interested in Barney with his age, service time and salary. Unless they were flipping him right away. I'd prefer to hold onto Alcantara.

How about Vogelbach, Vitters, and Corey Black?

Turner has had some shoulder concerns, and that concerns me, though I'd love to acquire him because why the hell not? The question is how valuable is he now? I can't really tell. I don't think Barney and some prospects is enough, but I also feel like a one-on-one swap with Vogelbach is too much. Is that crazy? I think it is, and I just can't gauge his value.

EDIT: Looking at his numbers... yeah he'd cost more.
