So all this talk of the Eagles having this fast paced, history breaking offense... looking through the box scores they got off 77 plays in 32:39 or about a play every 28.6 seconds of possession. In the same game the Redskins got off 70 plays in 27:21 or a play about every 23 seconds. The Broncos got off 10 more plays in just over a minute more of TOP (87 IN 33:48), the Patriots got a play off at a better rate, about every 25 seconds and ran more plays in more time (89 plays), the freaking Jets got off only 5 less plays in 17 less seconds of total possessions, and I don't have the time to look at the rates of everyone else but I'm sure there were other teams who got more plays off per second or however you want to look at it. But, yeah national media, lets keep running with how there's never been a faster offense...

Plus the Redskins turned the ball over what 3 times in 7 plays to start the game? Vick took some big hits.

Yeah. I'm not surprised they are running with this story, it's just that the Eagles aren't doing anything revolutionary like is being said. They didn't get off more plays in either volume or efficiency.

That doesn't really matter though, since ESPN runs with the story it created far in advance, regardless of results.

they had (iirc) 54 plays in the first half and built a 26-7 lead off their fast-paced hurry-up offense; it's not just a typical ESPN fabricated storyline, seeing how Chip Kelly's offense translates to the NFL is an actual thing of real intrigue

man, i can only imagine your guys' disdain right now if you had followed Chris Brown/SmartFootball on twitter

They ran more plays in the 1st half than several teams ran all game on Sunday.

Their defense also forced 3 turnovers in the first half and their offense gave up a touchdown after driving that resulted in immediately getting the ball back. I'm not arguing their offense didn't work, but they also did nothing in the 2nd half. I just think it's a bit much to be saying they are changing the game or this is some revolutionary stuff they are doing like it's being made out to be.

ESPN will hype whatever comes along to get more viewers.

It's probably another wildcat type deal, where it makes waves for a season or so and then defenses figure out how to slow it down.

You'll probably start seeing a lot of defensive "injuries" in upcoming Eagles games.

This is a really, really bad argument. It's like you completely ignored all context.

I wanted a suspension. If the league cares about safety, a fine won't deter him.

I would have liked to see one too and suspect if Sullivan was injured and scheduled to miss any games there may well have been.

The league cares so much about head injuries and the perceived image problem, they fail to address cheap shots like that.

He should've been suspended based on his reputation as should others like the G on SF that took out Williams of the Vikings.

With that said, I think there's probable cause to suggest that Matthews hit on Kaepernick was premeditated given his comments in the press earlier in the week followed by that obvious hit out of bounds.

...Sullivan's injury was not to the head

That's my point, if it would've been at the head Suh would've likely been suspended. Short-term leg injuries are more damaging on a career than head injuries. You ask most players and they rather get hit in the head than at the knees.

There's a double standard b/c the NFL doesn't like the negative attention towards the head.

You can't expect a detroit fan to comprehend such a point.
