ESPN1000 just can't get out of its own way. Get Cowherd mercifully taken off your air, then intentionally replace him with Kaplan and shorten Carmen & Jurko in teh process.

does anybody listen to mike and mike?

i have to think they get killed by the score in that time slot (and by an awful show)

if i'm wrong about that, ugh.

So, they're presumably paying Kaplan a LOT of money to do a 12-2 show? Or does he keep his other stuff on Comcast Sports Net (roundtable show and Cubs pre/post), which would, theoretically, mean that 1000 isn't paying him a ton.

While I agree on Mike and Mike being questionable, I would bet that still beats or at least competes very well with Mully and Hanley (which, I agree, is an absolute joke) and M&M is the flagship ESPN Radio show and probably required to be carried by the network.

The fact that Mully & Hanley is the best AM drive sports talk radio in the 3rd largest market in the country is an embarrassment. Glad I got XM radio for cheap.

A possible key phrase 'formerly with Kap and Haugh'. So they're shutting down that show on CSN 9-12AM? It might also mean he's losing his slot on Cubs pre and post next year. Cubs own 1/4 of CSN and Cubs moving to The Score. Why would you have an ESPN guy hosting a Cubs show? And that short-lived column he "wrote" with Fred Mitchell in the TRIB was nothing more than where Hendry was buying his donuts or who ate at Harry Caray's.

I listen to Mully & Hanley over Mike and Mike only because I prefer the local Chicago focus

[expletive] is that a punchable face with a side of "Can I sell you insurance?"

Since his wife works for Malnati's, it must have been tough at home with Papa John's as one of his sponsors.

It sickens me how much the seemingly decent media members always praise their more financially successful brethren.

Everybody kissed Rick Reilly's ass for years, same with Peter King, Chris Berman and all the rest of the buffoons.

Actually, Mully and Hanley does extremely well in the ratings. They're something like 6th in all of Chicago on morning radio, and 2nd in sports/talk behind some spanish language network.

That's from last year, but give you an idea....

I don't care about ratings and those aren't surprising, they are the only local sports show on AM drive, anyone could get those ratings. Good ratings don't make them suck any less.

just remembered this post

spiegel and goff have been making fun of him for the past few days, especially for some morrissey (IIRC) column calling him chicago's sports media superstar or something.

I remember when Kap and Waddle had their show and espn offered waddle and not Kap. That was awesome.

Apparently Schilling is going to be back for the playoffs, even though he's still be posting political memes all over his facebook during his suspension.

Wasn't it always that Schilling was going to be in the studio and not doing games?

Ah, I hadn't heard that. Well I guess that's better than him coming back and replacing Mendoza. Less good than just cutting him loose completely.

Why does Stephen A Smith exist?

The Durant threat was flat out bizarre. How he's not fired, at least suspended, for that is.....[expletive], I guess it's just typical ESPN.

I'm pretty sure Stephen A. has pics of ESPN execs [expletive] farm animals or something...because that's about the only thing that explains why he still has a job,
once you get past the way he talks, what he actually says is not much worse than a lot of idiots at ESPN

except it is. he's homophobic and has actually advocated the beating of women while brushing the acts of ray rice under the rug. ESPN has a lot of idiots, but he has to top the list.
