So do we go after one of the bigger FA SPs, or are we done?

Not done, but I don't think there's any way we are going to offer Ubaldo, Garza or Santana what they want. Maybe we get lucky on a 1-2 year deal with someone?

Maholm? I'd take

Hammel? Don't want

Baker? Meh

HAHA, suck it Chicago!!! I want to live in New York where there are more lonely Asian men that will pull their turgid little puds as they think about me!!

is there a nearby dairy queen we can spend the money on instead?

weird that the best FA in the class doesn't want to play for a team with three straight 90 loss seasons. must not subscribe to BA.

Yea I don't see them losing the 2nd rounder for Jimenez, Garza, or Santana. Maybe a lower tier guy, but not one of the higher profile dudes.

We can get two with the money slated for Tanaka. The dominoes should fall quickly. Would be surprised if there is not a signing before next Monday.

Don't you understand, though-it's better to not spend money on talent because it might look like someone got overpaid maybe after 5 years.

Kaplan tweeted we came in second, non contention kept us from offering higher.

[expletive] it, just trade Shark now. 2015 pretty much just went out the realistic window.

Garza wouldn't cost any compensation picks.

that's his pop singer wife. Did you not see the creepy ass video posted earlier of one of her shows. The entire audience is screaming Asian men.

the yankees near-term looks iffy at best and long term looks horrific. if his advisers steered him that way based on an opportunity to win, they're not very good.

Man, if there was some sort of participation trophy for effort we'd have it on lock. Unfortunately who gives a [expletive] if we "finished second". Stunning that a terrible team wasn't able to convince a guy to play here instead of in NY for the same money and a somewhat decent team.

Apparently our wave after wave of prospects pitch wasn't convincing.

ABTY still thinks Cubs had highest bid, for what that's worth:

Ty Youngfelt @TyYoungfelt

Yanks offer got close enough to Cubs where money was no longer factor...Cubs still had more $ on table

should have had professor parks explain to him that we'll have a lineup full of hall of famers in five years. BIG PICTURE TANAKA.

Trading Samardzija seems more likely than adding a SP of significance (Ubaldo/Garza).

David Kaplan @thekapman

Industry source tells me there were more teams bidding than the 5 reported. Ichiro/Kuroda big influence on decision.

Glad it's over. Guess we'll just have to show him he made the wrong choice. By Baez becoming a super star, Bryant being an all-star, Castro bouncing back to being a top 5 SS in the game, and Rizzo progressing. I hope the Yankees are like the 2009-2013 Cubs. Whole bunch of mediocrity and sucktitude. That'll show em!

I'm telling you, it's his wife's fault.
