Baseball should take the hockey method of reviewing calls and the tennis method of challenging balls and strikes.

I don't want some Canadian making those decisions.

Baseball is a game of inches, not centimeters.

So 6 total challenges available each game? Jesus, that sounds awful and time consuming.

How is assuring the correct outcome on the field "awful?"

Have you ever watched an NFL game? Most challenges take 5 minutes and 75% of them confirm the call on the field, and they most definitely do not "assure" a correct outcome.

The MLBPA will never allow the DH to be done away with, and with the new alignment and expanded interleague play, its league-wide institution is an inevitability.

Why not just even out the leagues and eliminate interleague play altogether? For me personally, the novelty has worn off. Either go with a completely balanced scheduled across both leagues or go back to the traditional schedule with no interleague play.

Very few NFL challenges take 5 minutes. And if it means the correct call is on the field, whether it confirms or overturns the refs call, then as a football fan I'm ok with that.

This is part of the mentality I don't get. Nobody says a word when teams from other conferences play each other in football, baseball, or hockey during the regular season. Why is it so bad when an AL team plays an NL team?

With the Astros moving over and having 6 divisions of 5 teams each and IL play spread out the entire season, I think that's best case. They could even it out even more, though. A home and home with each team in another division in the opposite league is 30 games. 18 games against each of the other 4 teams in your division, and then a home-and-home with every other team in your league is 60 games. That's 162.

They have so few plays to review now in MLB and they've already fucked up a few.

It's not perfect I'll admit, but the percentage of error is substantially less, and will be even less so with the expanded replay.

I agree with everything Trey said.

Also - Expand by two more teams to have 4 divisions of 4 teams in each league. If we can't get steroids back for more offense, let's water down the pitching.

Who gets the teams? I'd love to see the Expos back.

portland and ????

charlotte definitely has the population to support a MLB team, maybe raleigh-durham also, but they could be too into nascar and college basketball. sacramento? salt lake city? columbus?

i guess i'll say salt lake city since there are a lot of white people there and presumably there's not much to do.

Sacramento would be way too close to A's/Giants territory. I actually remember reading something that one of the A's options for getting out of Oakland would be to renovate the River Cats stadium into an MLB park.

I guess I just prefer to be entertained. Adding 20 minutes to a game for replay challenges isnt entertaining.

Strawman much?

Not Sacramento, probably not SLC (too small a metro). Besides Charlotte, another good choice would be the Norfolk/Newport News/Virginia Beach metro. And definitely Portland.

What about New Orleans? We might lose Vance though.

For the playoffs I'm fine with it, but not the regular season. 3 challenges or whatever a game is complete lunacy. Talk about turning even more people away from the sport, this is just one step in that direction.

guys, guys, guys, you're not looking at this clearly. just think about how awesome it's going to be to hear Hawk scream "DAGGUM RIGHT WE'RE GONNA PLAY THIS GAME UNDER PROTEST" while arguing about a computer-generated overturn of an out call or something

I'm all for expanded replay and everything but balls and strikes (i want the technology to be there..and then i was to play hard to get)

The DH in the NL? I guess it will be forced on the NL to adopt before the AL is forced to abandon it..

Would the DH help the cubs in the NL in the future though?

Right now I can see that pushing us back in the hole for a season or 2 but maybe if this times out well...we'll have our young contending team and then be allowed to spend big on a hitter?

Somehow I don't think that needing to add a hitter to the lineup would set the team back two years.

Either way, it's not going to happen this year. I'd be surprised if it didn't within five years, though. Hopefully it coincides with Vogelbach breaking into the league (provided he does).
