Yep, that's always the first thing that pops in my head. Sort-of related, I feel like a good way to test if you're dealing with a Cubs' die-hard (presuming they're old enough to have seen it) is to ask if they know who the three players in that rundown were. Random thing that only lunatics like us remember, I'm sure. best cubs gave i've ever been to. i wonder if the sportscenter video i uploaded years ago is still floating around online... You don't remember the 3 headed catching monster of Joe Girardi, Damon Berryhill and Rick Wrona? I remember that I was 16 and wanted Wrona to start more games. Holy [expletive], he WAS part of that. Why can't I remember him?!? I have the '89 starting lineup memorized with him in it batting 8th. And I think he hit a home run once right after I told my dad he sucked. But those are my only memories of him.

The hate mail stuff sucks, but he has to know that has nothing to do with why he was fired. When he brings it up after firings, it seems like he's pointing to his being black as the reason for his firing. Well, I'm sure everyone sees right through what he's saying if he says he's being fired for his race. I'd rather he say it in the offseason that during the season. I just find it curious that he never mentions the hate mail when things are going well. It's always right before he gets fired or right after.

I'm not. Neither side is "right" here. MLB was overly aggressive and A-Rod is a cheating scumbag. I'm not disagreeing one bit that A-Rod is a scumbag, he is. But MLB trying to run him out and make an example out of him, with helping the Yankees out of their gigantic contract, at the same time? A-Rod is the lesser of two evils to me. I guess. It sucks that I have to root for A-Rod here, but like you said... I don't want the Yankees to get out from under that contract. I want them to have to pay every last cent of the stupid thing.
