Four roster moves will be made later today...including a pair of players promoted... look for the news shortly

Bryant to KC maybe?

Cubs’ fourth-round pick, pitcher Tyler Skulina, and outfielder, Jose Dore, will join the Cougars this evening, while two former Hawks, pitcher Juan Paniagua and outfielder Kevin Encarnacion, return to Boise.

I wonder why not Zastryzny as well, as he's been just as impressive as Skulina.

Yeah. Maybe the fact he was scheduled to start tonight and they didn't want him to get bumped back a day(s) making his next start in KC and/or didn't have guys to start in Boise tonight? IDK, just some guesses.

Skulina's arm is more stretched out as his most recent outing was 3 innings. Zaztrysny's max is 2 innings.

I'm going to steal this post from PSD, but I thought it was pretty solid:

Just something that popped into my head as I was looking through the MLB box scores, but what do you think about a Pedro Alvarez - Javier Baez comp. (hitting-wise only)? They just seem to have a lot of similarities in their numbers. Right now Alvarez is at: .244/.306/.503/.809 with a 8.0 BB% and 32.4 K% -- on pace for 42 HRs this year. If Baez could put up numbers similar to those at SS or 2B, I'd think that'd be super valuable.

Obviously you hope he can get the K's down as he adjusts and all, but it seemed like a decent comparison.

I'd take it. The question is whether Baez would go through similar struggles to Alvarez when he comes up to the majors.

obviously #notascout but alvarez seems to me like a guy with a big slow lumbering swing, not like baez at all

He does usually take a while to adjust to a new level.

Alvarez bat speed is fine. I don't like the comparison because Baez has a significant speed advantage and should have a higher BABIP, more doubles and a hit for a higher avg. Plus Baez's BB rate is already similar to Alvarez's. I think Alvarez is a good comp if Baez doesn't develop any more than he is now....then he still will have the speed advantage.

100-150 PAs is a while?

Baez walked on 4 pitches, stole 2nd, and scored on a Bour double in his first PA.

pretty sure baez BB% is more than 10% the last month

10% exactly, 211 PAs

EDIT: Whoops, that's the last 2 months. Last month, 11% 100 PA

Looks like we barely missed another Javy Bomb (which would have put him at .900+ OPS at AA) with a warning track fly out at the wall.

Even better.

Villanueva has the rare 0-2 with 2 RBI night so far. Alcantara 2-4 with a double and a k.
