Meanwhile, in Mooney's latest, he hears Rangers don't like Cubs asking price and are well down the road on Plan B......

He's just re-linking his post from 6 hours ago, which means the info is even older than that, as ridiculous as it sounds to call 6-8 hour old news irrelevant.

Ah cool, I've been on a plane most of the day, so just getting caught up.

I think the recent backlash against Olt around here is going a bit over the top.

No, he's not in any way the type of guy that can headline a package right now. But as the 3rd piece? Yeah, I'd love to have him in the system and see if he can't bring the K rate down to around 25%. He's plenty valuable at that point.

My backlash against Olt is a year Olt at this point.

Rangers fans on twitter seem to be mixing up Garza and Joe Blanton. Every name mentioned in a trade for Garza is crazy talk!

We hear Alfaro in play now. http://Chicagonow.com/cubs-den .

Using the "2 pitchers and a position player" template, I'd want to pull from 3 groups like this:

Pitcher 1: Perez, Feliz, Tepesch

PItcher 2: Edwards, Jackson, Buckel

Player: Alfaro, Sardinas, Odor

Make sure you get at least one player from each of those lists, and hopefully one guy that's at the top of one of the lists.

That would be a great haul, especially if you can get one of the first two in the first list.

Yeah, odds seem against that at this point(at least if 3 players of note are involved), but something like Tepesch, Edwards, and Sardinas(hope for Alfaro, settle for Odor) would be alright with me.

i could get past Olt's batting line if he was 22 or something, and i could get past his age if he was hitting, but both make him too big a pill to swallow thats what she said

The Rangers Plan B could be Bud Norris. Of course, even with the extra control, he's not the same caliber of pitcher, in my opinion.

I'm guessing that the Rangers are not going get Garza. And leaking this information to the press is a way to save face. Bet the deal is already done with another team. And Texas was notified that a deal is already place. Hence the "too expensive" crap from them. There is no other scenario I can think of for leaking the information.

The Rangers Plan B thing was a recent addition to the article though. Don't remember it being there before.

Peter Gammons tweeted a bit ago that Martin Perez is out of the deal and the trade "seems imminent".

most of these rumored texas packages sound fine, but if there is as much league-wide interest in garza as it appears, i feel like we should be getting one of martin perez or leonys martin

somebody here said he read Garza was on a plane to texas. But I haven't seen that.

Bruce Levine said he was on the same plane with Garza to Denver on twitter.

I know Odor isn't as popular a target as Sardinas but I like him a lot.

@BenBadler: If I'm making a trade with the Rangers, one guy I'd want is Rougned Odor. Premium position, rakes and no clear fit in Texas.

@BenBadler: Yes RT @Dylanj85 odor higher than Alcantara in your eyes?

And Odor is a much better name for headline writers...which is important.
