Btw, you think that ESPN Dallas blogger knows that Bowden is a dolt and led with that headline to make sure everyone knew that going in?

Ahhh, right on time.

This "source" is clearly a planted one. Theo and Jed were on the phone with Texas and said: "Hang on, Jon (Daniels)we have a call.. Hey, Jon, I have to call you back, I have a club ready to make a substantial offer".

Click.

@BleacherNation: RT @JimBowdenESPNxm: The Rangers - Cubs...Matt Garza deal will get done and Neil Ramirez will be center piece according to source

Ugh, I don't know how I feel about Neil Ramirez as the centerpiece. Wait, yes I do; not at all good.

Tim Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News yesterday on Profar: He's definitely less than he was hyped to be, but that's neither a surprise nor his fault. The Rangers do a masterful job of selling Baseball America on their prospects, and as a result some of them get overhyped. That's not a bad thing to do, by the way. All it took was convincing one team to believe in how Justin Smoak was hyped and the next thing you know, Cliff Lee's starting Game 1 of the World Series in a Rangers uniform.

I think Profar is going to be a good switch-hitting middle infield player with average power for those spots, maybe 20 HRs at the tops. He's a better long term prospect than Elvis, but Elvis is no longer trade bait with his $120 million deal, so chances are that Profar gets dealt this winter if not sooner.

So lets just add him to the deal and be done, Texas.

Sure Profar might be a bit overrated but the thing about Texas selling BA is silly. Smoak was an elite prospect with a fantastic college and minor league career at the time. Profar was ranked #1 by not just BA, but the other major entities, including a gentleman who now runs the minors for the other baseball team in Texas.

jim bowden is irrelevant

Neil Ramirez might be in the Garza deal, but if he's the centerpiece of the deal (which I doubt), the Cubs are getting sodomized.
