Would you rather we have total revenue sharing and cut the other teams in the division a check for $15m each?

MLB already has revenue sharing in place in addition to the competitive balance picks.

Which is why I used the qualifier "total."

The system still benefits the Cubs far more than a totally balanced system would, even if our various owners have been bad at taking advantage of it.

Some more of the same old:

Buster Olney‏@Buster_ESPN24m

Other teams say CHC are asking for last and best offers on Matt Garza, and they think he'll be traded before he throws another pitch for CHC

Buster Olney‏@Buster_ESPN23m

TEX said to be in middle of Garza talk. TEX has range of pitching prospects other than Perez, including C.J. Edwards/Luke Jackson (more)

(cont.) so if Cubs focus on pitching for Garza, Rangers will have various options for them to discuss (if they're willing.)

The story added absolutely nothing new to that tweet, btw.

I really haven't been expecting a huge haul for Garza, but I have to say I would be pretty disappointed if we just got a handful of high ceiling A ball pitchers like C.J. Edwards and Luke Jackson. Between the #2 pick in the draft and the Garza trade, I was hoping our pitching in the higher levels wouldn't still be garbage by the time August rolled around.

I don't really care whatsoever if they land a pitcher. They just need to land a high quality chip and then they can decide how they want to use it later.

One of TT's favorite targets, Danny Duffy, struck out 13 in 5 1/3 yesterday. I'm thinking he's just about ready to pitch in the bigs again.

Junior Lake is getting called up and Levine was on ESPN 1000 just recently saying he could be in a deal with Garza going to Cleveland. There's a decent amount of smoke there.

Any chance to get Jackson AND Perez? Guessing no. I like Jackson more (ironically) but he's a couple years away. I think I'd prefer Jackson and Ramirez over Perez and probably whatever other arm they'd be willing to throw in...especially if Olt is involved.

Not going to pretend to know anything about CJ Edwards stuff, but his numbers are filthy.

[expletive] Cleveland. I don't want Mr. Bauer.

Why would those two be connected though? Lake is already on the 40 man, so calling him up doesn't make a trade any easier, especially since Garza is supposed to be traded at any moment, so it's not an audition for one team.

Nor do I, but I like Salazar quite a bit.

If the Cubs have to pay for his travel from Des Moines to Chicago that could save the acquiring team a couple bucks...

I wonder if it would be due to a trade of Valbuena with Garza. McLeod did talk about how close Lake is to being ready. Maybe a trade of Valbuena leads to Lake starting at 3B.

I doubt Cleveland would trade that much for Valbuena 1.5 years later.

Lake cannot play ML 3B on an every day basis.

He's got the tools he needs to succeed there. He needs reps, though.

that would be AWESOME if the indians were too cheap to send out a scout and insisted we put lake in games on tv so they could decide whether to trade for him

I'm pretty sure that's where Jed/Theo would tell them to [expletive] off

Besides Lindor, Cleveland is bleh. I do like Cody Allen out of the bullpen, though.

According to another board, Levine mentioned Valbuena (not Lake) possibly going with Garza to Cleveland like some others mentioned as a possibility.
