That's been discussed a ton...not just with Castro but Soler, Baez, and others too.

Baez's English is more than enough to get by though.

@sahadevsharma: Hearing initial candidates for Cubs job either weren't a fit or didn't interview well. That's why we're seeing more names pop up.

@sahadevsharma: Don't believe entire pool of interviewed are eliminated. More that Cubs feel need to expand pool so they feel better that they get right guy

I refuse to accept that Dave Martinez didn't blow everyone away. Just hire him already.

so now this lovullo joker is an actual candidate?

I feel like any such rumors are just the internet version of UK doing Pee-Wee's "I say we let him go!" schtick.

Heh, I think I've been nearly as supportive of Martinez as I have been with Lovullo.

Probably related to the fact that he is 68 years old.

Could it be stress/health related? Leyland is a smoker, could possibly think that staying in that job is shortening his life.

Which is still like 10 years younger than I expected him to be when I read that. I thought he was in his mid-late 50's when he was managing the Pirates.

Hated him in the playoffs. Bunting with Uribe before he hit the home run, not using Jansen until the very end of game 1, etc. Not sure how much of a difference he actually made with that team considering they had the talent already.

I'm not a fan for the reasons stated already. He's a poor in-game manager and didn't seem to care much about Kershaw's arm once the playoffs rolled around.
