Can you believe that Z only turned 34 two days ago?

I hate the way his career ended. He still was a really capable pitcher, imo....but nobody wanted to put up with his [expletive].

@ARizzo44 Did you know you've only swung and missed at two pitches in the strike zone with two strikes? 2 times in 82 swings #VoteRizzo.

It's about time for Rizzo to snap out of this funk...

Last month: .196/.325/.250/.575 1 HR 8 RBI in 114 PA

The thing that I've been impressed with both Rizzo and Bryant is even when they are struggling they still are getting on base at a good rate.

he's really been chasing bad pitches a lot the last couple of weeks.

the way he's finishing his swings makes me think there's a league-wide adjustment that's happened. The whole go down on one knee thing is happening a lot more often than I think I've ever seen from him before.

I mentioned a couple weeks ago or so that it seemed like he was being more aggressive/swinging at more balls out of the strikezone than I remembered and someone helpfully linked to an article that showed he has tended to get more aggressive along those lines as a season goes on but before it has worked more in his favor. Hopefully this is something he can adjust to because like imb says it really feels like other teams now have a better idea as to how to pitch to him.

Anyone else noticing Rizzo for MVP talk seemingly gaining momentum?

Anyone else noticing Rizzo for MVP talk seemingly gaining momentum?

Saw Buster Olney tweet a Baseball Tonight discussion about it. Is there more talk about it elsewhere?

ESPN is pushing the idea pretty hard right now.

Assuming we make the playoffs, there was going to be a push for a Cub for MVP due to narrative and sportswriter stupidity. Rizzo is easily our best position player. Maybe if Arrieta piled up a gaudy win total he'd get some really dumb writer support, but probably not as long as Rizzo keeps donging.

well, he does lead MLB in win prob. added, so it's not totally & completely without merit...

Just looking at position players, the top 5 WAR in the NL right now are all on teams currently out of the playoffs.

RIzzo, McCutchen and Bryant (!) are the only guys in the top 10 on playoff teams. Rizzo leads that group.

I'm guessing Grienke will get serious consideration from a lot of voters with that ERA.

I guess I'm naive, I still think Harper wins it whether they make the playoffs or not.
