I know, because it's gonna be like 9.

Colorado scoops up our sloppy seconds once again

Rockies signed INF/OF Josh Vitters to a minor league deal.

The former top prospect has really fallen from grace in recent years and hit a disappointing .213/.268/.339 with 11 homers and 38 RBI in 112 games at Triple-A Iowa in 2014 while striking out 107 times in 375 at-bats. Still just 25-years-old, it's a nice low-risk signing for the Rockies.

What kind of slash line are you projecting for Bryant next year?

Posted

There's likely no chance Bryant becomes a 60-65 hitter, they'll want him to improve his contact ratio but there's nothing wrong with a Thome like approach.

That article was weird.

Jon (Illinois): What does the prospect team need to see out of Gleyber Torres for him to crack the Top 101 in 2016?

Top 101 Chat: He was pretty darn close this year -- about as close as you can get without making the cut. If he has even a solid developmental year he'll likely debut with prominent placement. I love the profile and had to restrain myself some not to push him even further up the Cubs Top 10.

A lot of good stuff in here but this is the snippet I wanted to post:

On if the Cubs are tempted to move Kyle Schwarber to the outfield because of the bat despite the fact he wants to catch

“We are really fortunate. The three guys we’ve talked about so far with Russell and Bryant and Kyle [schwarber] to have three 70 or 80 makeup-type personalities here and like you said Kyle wants to catch, he’s committed to it. We are extremely committed to him catching. He has made so many strides since we drafted him last year. There was a lot of scouts out here at the Big 12-Pac 12 Tournament in Mesa over the weekend and they actually got to see Kyle catching Jake Arrieta down in the pens and they are like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe how this guy looks.’ So, obviously if you’re talking about that kind of bat behind the plate, that’s a special player and like I said he’s come a long way. That is the plan going forward with him is just to catch him. He’s an athletic guy in a strong, compact body and he’s going to surprise a lot of people that were naysayers in terms of his ability to catch. He’s going to go out and I think do a really good job behind the plate for us this year.”

Seriously, though, read all of it.

If Schwarber can be an average MLB catcher and have his bat be 3/4 of what I think it can be, the ceiling of this core of prospects goes from "outstanding" to "all time great". It's so damn exciting right now.

i just keep telling myself that there's no way schwarber can catch, because the prospects of him being passable there are too awesome

if schwarber is an acceptable MLB catcher, we're the 90s Yankees.

You know, sometimes guys who are prospects can't hit in the majors even if they seem like really, really good prospects. It's at least theoretically possible.

It was more a fun prediction than an attempt to state a fact. But thanks for reminding me of that.
