Not many Minor Leaguers capture Player of the Week honors in three different leagues in one season. Schwarber, after going deep in five straight games last week, is one of them. The Cubs fourth overall pick in June's Draft, Schwarber owns a .671 slugging percentage -- second in the Minors only to fellow Cubs prospect Kris Bryant.

That would be cool if it were true. UnFortunately, Jorge Soler is slugging .700, meaning Bryant and Schwarber rank second and third.

sort of surprised to see (and i realize it's defense and defensive metrics for catchers ehhhhhh) that castillo has been good for 1.6 war in 86 games.

he's only been judged to be +4 defensively, and his offense is nearly the exact C average (.237/.301/.387 vs. .246/.311/.380)

he's lucky FG doesn't weigh framing, which he sucks at, and factors in things he's decent at: PB avoidance and CSs

yeah

i honestly don't know how to gauge what the numbers really mean under the offense and defense but i saw defense was a decently high positive number (i know part of this is just the positional adjustment...not sure how much that is) and the offense was a negative.

Posted

in the summary it shows 10.3 defensive value, which is +4.1 actual defense and 6.2 positional adjustment

i liked it better before, but they changed it for some reason; i continually get momentarily excited that Castro's D has progressed into a positive and am hit with the cold reality that it's just the positional adjustment tricking me

Yeah, I like that they added that number so you can compare across positions, but it shouldn't be the number they include in that dashboard view that's the first thing you see.

16 wins out of 28... wouldn't that be a 69 pace?

ummmm...

No? 162/28= 5.8 (rounded up) 5.8x16= 92.8

what a weird way to do it

16/28 = .571

.571x162=92.5

my way is totally better (but i like your answer a little better so nm)

I think they got the percentages reversed...93 wins would equate to 69 losses.

OK, so truth be told, I copied/pasted your fact into an email chain and someone responded with he 69 win figure... he is typically a smart person, so I took his word for it. He obviously reversed the W/L. My bad, sorry David.

I have an email chain with my friends who want to keep up on the cubs but don't want to scour message boards. It's a good way to keep in touch with old friends, too.
