This offseason kicked off so amazingly awesome. And then...

Jesus you're almost as bad as Kyle

lol it's almost like he hasn't paid attention in so long he's forgotten that this is what the offseason is like for 99 percent of teams every year.

If God didn't call their best prospect back to Heaven I'd argue the Cardinals had a comparable or better offseason. This offseason started off awesome and then turned into an amazing case of blue balls, and it's probably because of a combination of no more money and they don't want to trade the kids.

I thought Lucifer called him to hell?

I was being diplomatic.

Anyways I'd agree I was hoping for one other move. An OF addition would make me feel better- like we were a serious playoff threat and not hoping for all the cards to fall into place type team.

Right. Hyperbole aside, it really is one of those "man, 1 or 2 more moves (and moves that it seemed like the FO themselves were looking to do) would sure do a lot to put them in a position to compete now"-type situations. And still have all the room needed to let the kids play.

I'm fine with Rasmus or Fowler for sure. Kind of doubt Span or Leonys Martin is possible. Are there any options that seem realistic that I'm missing? (Maybin, I guess, but not sure he's a true starter either)

They are already in a position to compete now and they don't "need all the cards to fall into place."

Yes, of course I want them to get better (would be pleased with an OF like Fowler, as davell mentioned) but I swear people aren't realizing how good we already are or something. I think a lot of it is people look at our lineup and are still measuring it against the frame of reference from when we were last good. Nobody's lineup "looks" that good by those standards anymore. Look around baseball.

That's why this team, with nothing remotely outlandish (maybe you think 1 WAR is that for Javy, which I mean, yeah) or great projected for any one of the prospects, projects for the 5th most wins in the NL last I checked.

Batting the pitcher 8th aside, doesn't Maddon equal SOMETHING? A couple of wins maybe?

Aside? That's a good move (not that it matters a whole lot - just saying that it isn't bad).

Yeah, who's not counting that as a big move? It was signing him and Lester that got my dirty juices flowing.

I'm saying the batting the pitcher 8th thing is good (though not remotely impactful).

Honestly? I don't think so. There's a reason the very best manager gets paid about the same as Wada.

That makes sense, I know it's impossible to quantify clubhouse [expletive] and all, but I'm hopeful Maddon gets more out of the youngsters than what the typical guy would. Unrealistic of me probably.

I know; I was agreeing with what seemed like your response to davell also acting like people aren't really valuing him.

I expect the Giants to shoot past us in the projected standings when all the moves are done and we'll be sitting there at 6th. Which is a really annoying place to sit, but still a helluva lot better than 12th.

lol the people that booed the WLS thing cheered for WGN not realizing (i'm guessing) that it's still not on the superstation - unless they're just cheering for a tv station for no apparent reason

I love the comments section on every BN piece talking about the TV deals with people freaking out over WGN.
