Iowa falls down 10 points in the last 2 minutes of the first half and proceeds to outscore Minnesota by 31 points. Tough game at Michigan on Wednesday.

Down 10 with a minute left in the first half. Outscore them 61-30 the rest of the way. I [expletive] love this team.

I would like to know how historically unlucky this illini team is and its relation to my fandom

Uhhh...what??

Did you expect them to contend for the conference title or something?

No, painting the Illini as being unlucky just helps him build up the "universe is out to get sulley" narrative. As if the universe give a [expletive] about him.

I think there was a lot of bad luck in the NW game, but this losing streak is all about bad offense. Not unlucky, just bad. The problem is that all of the real talent (outside of Rice) are raw freshmen. After losing to Purdue and NW, which were games that were "put it in the win column" games before the B1G season started, it's gonna be tough sledding getting into the tournament.

They have to be shooting a pretty close to historically low % from inside 5 feet at this point in conference games. That may be a combination of being bad and having bad luck, but it's really amazing to watch them miss as often as they do from close range.

I'll have you know that the universe is my sworn enemy

That's true, but some of it is just bad basketball. Like how Abrams is good for at least four or five completely out of control drives/shots a game. The only really egregious bad luck I saw was in the NW game, and some in the Wisconsin game (which we were going to lose anyway).

Looking forward to it. How has Iowa been on the road this year? I know they are tough to beat at home even when they aren't that great but I'm hoping Michigan can protect home court here.

Led at Iowa State for most of the game, went 1-6 from the line in the last minute and lost by 3.

Led for the first 25-28 minutes at Wisconsin, fell apart, then made it tight again and lost by 4.

Won at Ohio State by 10.

Neutral court they beat Xavier in OT, beat UTEP by 36, lost to Villanova in OT, beat Drake by 17.

Iowa's shown they can compete with nearly every team home or away for a couple of years now (well, except Michigan last year.) I'm not sure what to expect. Michigan looks like they're figuring it out now that the B1G season has started and Stauskas terrifies me. This would be a big one for Iowa to get if they want the conference title.

Jabari Parker is expected to play his sophomore season at Duke and will not enter the draft this year according to Sam Smith. Interesting.

Northwestern's defense has been legit without Sobo in the lineup. Coincidence?

No defense is good enough to make even bad shooting teams shoot as poorly as illinois and Indiana did against nu.

I mean, that may be, but other teams have blown them out and they're still top 20 in AdjD.

thinking Michigan shouldn't have gone to the milk he clock strategy with 10 minutes left...

we did that to Wisconsin too...lulling them into a false sense of hope!

Michigan played well, Iowa was not good. They got good looks, forced us into tough ones and kept us off the line until late. Bench gave Iowa nothing and Marble played a really poor game. Big Ten road game vs. a really good team. Just don't let it carry over into an 11 a.m. trap game at Northwestern before the MSU game Tuesday.
