Now if a person is a bandwagoner, that's a whole other thing altogether. I had an acquaintance who was all about the University of Michigan, despite the fact that he didn't go there, didn't know anyone who went there, never lived in or around the state of Michigan or had any connection to the university or the town. He just decided he was a Michigan fan while the Fab Five were there. I can't stand that guy.

That actually seems reasonable. Had I not grown up within somewhat close proximity to Mizzou I would probably bandwagon every year, with an exception to whoever John Calipari is coaching.

I grew up in an IU basketball / ND football house which is probably why I hate both. In reality my dad was just a huge Bob Knight and Lou Holtz fan. He still gives me [expletive] when ND beats Purdue , etc. but he doesn't follow IU basketball since Knight was fired.

To be honest, I didn't follow Purdue much before attending. As soon as I got on campus I became a fan for life. Sadly, I even tune in to watch beatdowns like the OSU game last Saturday.

Keady was in his last few good years when I was there so it was easy to be a basketball fan. Sweet Sixteen my Freshman year and an Elite Eight my Sophomore year. Plus we had Drew Brees, Kyle Orton, Roosevelt Colvin, Matt Light (Brady's LT for the super bowls), and others so football was easy to be a fan of as well.

2015 Simeon recruit DJ Williams has committed to Illinois.

To me, this is probably the biggest plus for Cliff Alexander picking Illinois so far.

Just too odd that it happened 10 days before his announcement.

I'm not sure it will matter, cliff probably wouldn't play with him anyways. He is best friends with Charles Matthews though.

i wouldn't be surprised to see Cliff stay a couple of years in college. he's an average size power-post player in the NBA.

i like what this means for Matthews, yes. 2015 could be an incredible class, an OSU-like class.

I'd be pretty surprised.

1) He's made multiple mentions of making $$ for his family

2) Don't think KU would be in the picture for a 2 year scenario

I agree, but I think KU forces him more for two years. There is a good chance that both Oak and Ellis are there when he gets to campus. Might be a lot harder to show case himself.

Sorry to non-IU fans

Just watched the 2nd exhibition game. Man does this IU team remind me of a typical Michigan St. team, particularly more recent teams. Really like Devin Davis. It was mentioned on the broadcast after I thought it, but he physically reminds me of Draymond Green. Really well built kid, good athlete, who can do a lot of different things on the court. I don't think he'll have the offensive impact Green had later in his career, but he looks to be the best defender on the team and is probably the best rebounder at 6'7". Can shoot a little and put it on the floor some. Probably an undersized 4, like Green, but I think he's going to be a solid player by next season. Troy Williams looks to be our Raymar Morgan. Raw athlete, that will show flashes but doesn't look like a superstar like some will expect. Vonleh looks very comparable to an Adrian Payne type player, down to the lefthandedness. Robinson = Summers.

As the season goes on, I think IU will be able to rebound with anyone. Perea looks much better on D and the boards. Vonleh can board. Then you'll get a lot of boards from the wings. Started 4 players 6'7" or bigger tonight. And 7-8 of the 10-11 man rotation will be 6'6" or taller. Not going to be a great shooting team just like many MSU good teams, but will be long on defense and create some tough shots and clog passing lanes. Offense will go as the PG goes, again like MSU teams. Ton of pressure on Yogi to hit shots or get the ball to people in a position to make shots in the half court.

I think Crean will consistently go a legit 10 deep on most nights. I see no reason to not play anyone on the 2-deep depth chart right now. I don't like Hollowell as the point forward when Yogi is out, though he could be an asset at the top of a zone if he doesn't have to put the ball on the floor too much.

If these guys stay together, they should be a really good team next year. Could be elite 8/final 4 good if guys find their roles and everyone develops quickly. As for this year, probably going to be inconsistent. May take a bad loss or two. Probably not going to shoot well enough to pull off any major upsets. 24th best team is probably about right.

Us IU fans will just talk amongst ourselves . . .:

--Heard a lot of complaints about Davis after his ranking dropped. Such complaints were wrong. He was, and remained, a player that Crean (or Izzo, if you like) would have always recruited. He's long, athletic, and absolutely relentless. He does a good job pushing the ball up the court after a defensive rebound; but, overall, he is not very skilled at this point. He is likely to struggle in halfcourt offense (read: how most Big Ten games are played) at least for now. Never a star, but the type of player every program wants for four years. (Now, the other recruit Crean took early that dropped in the rankings . . . we'll see how he fits. I wonder if he should have gone to Notre Dame fit-wise.)

--This team is really long and athletic. They have a ways to go before they become a good team, however. I would bite your hand off to be the twenty-fourth best team by the end of the season. Really skeptical that is the case right now.

--As constructed, I agree, next year IU can certainly be Elite Eight/Final Four good.

It's a shame like I really like snood, because the amount of jayhawk tears I'd like to drink in that instance are immesurable and to have to hold back because of him is just so...disappointing.

He's probably going to get Oakfor and Turner so don't feel too bad for him.

The season is here! Driving down to West Lafayette this afternoon for tonight's game (and tomorrow's football ass kicking by Iowa).

Awesome. Have fun. I would be out tailgating tomorrow, but it's my best friend's bachelor party weekend.

Myles Turner will still be in play, even if we miss on all those guys, which I feel like we might.
