Yes but he was apparently running towards the opposing dugout with a bat in hand. That isn't a whole lot better. Luckily he was stopped before he got close enough to do anything.

Only the Cubs.

yes i can't think of any non-cub prospects who did something stupid with a bat, like, say, throwing it an an umpire.

What ever happened to the dude who karate kicked the catcher and then charged the mound?

I know it's early, but it looks like we already have a frontrunner for the 2013 Micah Hoffpauir/Jake Fox/Bryan LaHair Memorial Award.

A few more hot weeks could force their hand to call him up. Unlike AAAA mashers past, Sweeney has had some legit big league success, and about the same age as the others were when they were mashing PCL pitching for the 3rd or 4th season.

It's aggressive and dangerous but you could call it a form of #want. RT @NickMynuk @ProfessorParks does soler dugout fight display #want?

I cannot clearly convey exactly how much I [expletive] hate hash tags.

Not even making it to the dugout and not swinging the bat (and possibly making contact with the opponent's dugout wall) is a lot better than the initial reports.

Yeah, I don't even see how you could see it's not a whole lot better. It's a completely different dynamic if he actually goes to the dugout and pounds on it while waiting for a challenger.

just put a number sign in front of it... #hatehashtags or something like that... makes it easier to convey your exact feelings. :)

It still could be considered aggrivated assault, couldn't it?

for aggravated assault, a perp must have attempted to cause or actually caused serious bodily injury upon another.

i can recall several instances of MLB hitters angrily walking to the mound wielding their bat after a HBP and getting minimal if any penalty for it afterward

Soriano says he'll call and talk to Soler today. Dude is real good to the young Latin guys in the organization.

Theo will talk to the media after today's big league game. He's still reviewing the matter.

Say what you want about Soriano and his performance and contract (though the latter really isn't his fault) but he really does seem to be a very hard worker, leader and genuinely interested in making sure our young players are taken care of and mentoring them.

Vin Scully doesn't like hashtags, either.

It's really annoying when I meet Cubs fans who seem to know their [expletive] and yet dislike Soriano and Castro because they are lazy non-leaders. Ditto Bears fans and Jay Cutler. ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE GREAT; APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE

There's a difference between having a bat already in your hand from legitimate purposes versus going and getting one.

I'm not saying they would but they could arrest him for assault.

Theo's reaction: "condemn the action, support the player". Soler very remorseful, didn't sleep last night. Evidently, something was said about his family he obviously didn't like.

You could arrest a boxer for assault as well.

When you bring family into the equation, all bets are off.
