What a horrible recruiting year for the Big 12. Well, that's good for KU. I'm pretty excited about our class, too. A lot of top juco guys who can add instant talent. And many of them of 3 to play 2 and/or were dec grads.

His point is that the sec reputation allows you to lose a game and still make the bcs title game. He wants the same luxury in the big ten and so he wants all the schools to improve so that his chances at a title are better. He could give a [expletive] what any big ten teams puts into facilities or coaching.

Other than better facilities and coaching -> better recruiting -> chance to lose a game and still get to national championship.

Maybe I'm completely off-base, but I have to think the facilities at a place like Michigan are pretty similar to any SEC school not named Alabama.

Meyer can whine all he wants, but it's pretty simple. SEC schools are located where most of the top talent is, and most of the kids in that football-crazy region grow up thinking Florida/Alabama/Georgia/Auburn is the ultimate prize. The same way every kid in Ohio grows up idolizing OSU players (and continues to idolize them as adults). It's always going to be difficult to persuade kids to go somewhere else where there's no regional tie.

It certainly seems like midwest isn't keeping their guys if thats the theory you want to go with though. Other than maybe Ohio State because Ohioans are obnoxious human beings.

Looking at the top 100 from the Midwest this year, only 4 of the top 20 and 10 of the top 50 (depending on how you define the Midwest) left the region. Michigan alone had 8 of the top 20.

Good

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says Big Ten officials recently agreed to stop scheduling nonconference games against FCS programs.

"The nonconference schedule in our league is ridiculous," Alvarez said on WIBA-AM in Madison, Wis. "It's not very appealing ...

"So we've made an agreement that our future games will all be Division I schools. It will not be FCS schools."

Who the hell is IU going to beat now? I guess there's always the teams that are new to the FBS.

Hopefully it actually sticks. Though it's funny to hear the guy that sets Wisconsin's schedule complain about OOC SOS.

Eh. I don't think Wisconsin is any worse than any other FBS team other than Notre Dame. They all have crap OOC schedules.

Tim Beckman should make it at least 8 games into next season.

If Lane is trolling the Trojans, I'm impressed. Otherwise, his everyove continues to baffle me.

Enjoy - here are the highlights:

LA Daily News[/url]"]Kiffin's comment offered no insight into why Polamalu was fired. But several sources inside the football program said Kiffin and Polamalu's fallout occurred two days before the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.

According to sources, Polamalu yelled at Kiffin and the pair had a heated argument on the evening of Dec. 29. Kiffin arrived at a Sun Bowl news conference the next morning with a scrape on his forehead, but sources said that was not related to his argument with Polamalu.

...

Sources said Polamalu didn't realize he was in trouble until an administrator called him on national signing day (Feb. 6) and told him not to attend a recruiting dinner held at the Galen Center that night.

Two days later, Polamalu found out he was fired when he read reports on the Internet. Kiffin never called him and still hasn't spoken to him regarding his dismissal, sources said.

A former Pacific-12 Conference coach who knows Kiffin and Polamalu said Kiffin probably felt "threatened" by his sometimes outspoken assistant.

"(Kiffin) knew Kennedy was a no-nonsense guy and saw through the way things are done and isn't afraid to speak up," the coach said. "So he made a change.

"Maybe he was worried Kennedy might talk (about the program) and Kiffin wanted complete loyalty."

Sometimes I wish Lane Kiffin wouldn't do so many Lane Kiffin things because it's going to get him fired rather quickly.

When Floyd Stadium was expanded to its current 30,788 seat capacity in 1997, it seemed like a foregone conclusion that MTSU would join the ranks of the ACC or SEC within the decade, but that has not happened.
