So because I'm engaging you Einsteins in a discussion on the abilities of Swope vs Denard that means I care about who's on the cover of a video game I haven't played in probably 10+ years? I made my original comment about people freaking out over the vote count every few minutes while devising plans on a message board to get thousands more votes while accusing the other side of cheating. Sure I think it would be cool for Texas A&M to get that visibility but I haven't spent any effort or money to get hundreds/thousands of extra votes to win this contest. Can you people not see the difference?

Michigan is accusing us of cheating because we made a big surge in the past 24 hours and took the lead.

He's recognizable because he had a few good games last year and he doesn't tie his shoelaces, so ESPN fell in love with him for a short time.

well that, and he did just set the record for all-time rushing yards from a college QB...

I'm sure every Michigan vote is legit though, right?

And you better hope Manziel isn't around more than 2 years or Denard's stay in the record books will be a short one.

Given the context I'm not sure how you could possibly believe anyone wouldn't think exactly that.

You got me. I will commit suicide if Swope doesn't win the vote. For the record, I also care what you think of me so please like me.

You've demonstrated clearly that you don't care about what people think of you. But what people think of A&M, on the other hand, seems to be of dire import to you.

And I pointed out that just because you may be ignorant on SEC football that doesn't mean that he is a nobody.

I'm not arguing that Swope is as recognizable as Denard. That's not even close. I just thought it was short sighted to say that Swope is a nobody player. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding your meaning but to me it sounds like you're saying he is not talented enough to be on the cover. If you're saying he's not popular enough, then I wouldn't be arguing that. Then again, that game has had several cover athletes who weren't widely known from what I've been told.

No he absolutely is. If I, an avid cfb that watches hours of football each Saturday, do not immediately recognize your name, you are a nobody for purposes of this discussion. Same would he true for many other people in this thread. You all but admitted that he's only in this discussion bc Manziel isn't available. That's not a reason to give him the cover though.

EA is probably praying that Denard wins so they don't have millions of people think they have fake players in the game bc they don't recognize the guy on the cover.

The most obscure athlete on the cover of NCAA football was probably Danny Wuerffel, the first year the cover athlete got chosen. And he was still a well known college player.

Per Wiki past cover athletes have included Jared Zabransky, Owen Whitt, and Brian Johnson.

So you'd be OK with Luke Joeckel being on the cover since you know who he is?

Not being good pros is not the same as not being recognizable. Zabransky especially. Brian Johnson wasn't immediately memorable, but some brief research shows he was the Sugar Bowl MVP of an undefeated Utah team in 2008, a worthy choice.

EDIT: Owen Whitt isn't a real person. Nice try, though.

Ryan Swope was on my college football fantasy team for two years, so I think I might know who he is.

And Robinson was both a better college football player and a more recognizable one, more worthy of being on the cover of the game. For the purposes of the cover of a video game, Swope is a nobody.

Zabransky was the perfect player for that year (unless EA picked a picture of the Statue of Liberty instead).
