I feel bad for Schaap. Hopefully this transcript gets published online, at the very least. No question about her funeral, the flowers, why he wasn't there? Or why he readily brought it up even after hearing from her in December? Love of his,life supposedly. I think he was duped, but I think he's playing the hell out of THAT part of it and not the part where he was using it for his own personal gain. Human nature, obviously, but he needs to acknowledge and apologize for it, because he's not clear of any wrongdoing here. It'll blow over, as everything does eventually, but he likely thinks this was it. But it isn't going away THAT easy.

I think it's pretty obvious this is the family falling on the sword for the superstar athlete trying to get his first big payday. There are just too many holes in his story and his logic to believe any of this.

I doubt many think he pulled a prank at this point. I do think many think he's a lying sack of [expletive] though, for manipulating it into something that served him and his needs. Who acts this way with the love of their life?(forget that it was fake). Some of his ex-teammates have basically said he played it up. If he really got caught up in a hoax, they would have had to have a stand in girl talking to him on the phone each time he called. Since there wasn't a face to face meeting and skype was, for some reason, out of the question, there had to be a phone call romance that made him "love" this imaginary girl as much as he claimed. Even the most dense person would have to wonder if it was all a charade much sooner than this guy.

 

We aren't talking about a couple of weeks here. It was months and months. And during times where he could have hopped on a plane to California or Hawaii and allowed him to show her how much he loved her.
